Is there any relief for Grover’s disease?
Is there any relief for Grover’s Disease? I’ve been on steroids, steroid creams, antihistamines, anti-itch creams and nothing is bringing relief to the intense itching. In fact, the rash had spread to most of my body. I’m bruising as well. Seeing my doctor again next week to talk about alternative treatments. Any suggestions? I’m desperate.

@ceolsonn visited my Dermatologist 2 days ago and she said I qualified for PAP program and before I left her office I had my base load of two doses administered! So far no relief but from what I’ve read perhaps after the second dose in two weeks I can hope and pray for results! Thank God 🙌🏻

1 ReactionI’m right there with you battling this awful condition. I started with this in January of this year. It’s severely impacted my life. Every day I keep hoping it’ll start going away, but I keep getting new patches. I’m considering oral retinoid medication, but I’m afraid of the side effects. I’m also considering using a stand up tanning bed for a few minutes twice a week, despite the possible cancer risk. I could really use a friend in someone who’s dealing with this.
@ag66 I just started using Dupixent which is helping however it’s cost prohibitive. I applied for assistance. Waiting to hear back from the specialty pharmacy on cost.
@ceolsonn I read about that too, but it’s like $4,000! As it’s not FDA approved for Grover’s, I didn’t think there’d be any help. Keep me posted!
@ag66 My doctor told me to apply for a copay card from Dupixent which I did. Spoke with the specialty pharmacy today and my copay is $0 for one month supply. I need to find out if I have to reapply each time.

1 ReactionThat’s great! I spoke to my dermatologist yesterday about it; I’m going to have a biopsy in a few months (I’m going out of town for several weeks). We’ll talk about that when I return. I hope it works for you, let me know!
My Dermatologist asked if my household income was under $84,000 and I'm retired so it is. That apparently qualified me for the PAP (Patient Assistance Program). I'm not sure if it is the drug manufacturer assisting or not but she did the base load (2 doses) and sent me home with 2 more, 1 dose per week, with instructions to come back in 6 weeks for more. One thing that is worth noting, she made it clear she wasn't treating my GD with it but the secondary spontaneous urticaria that I've developed which Dupixent is approved for by FDA. It is not approved for GD. However everything I've read said it works for both but she would not confirm that. Call it whatever ya want, I'm just so thankful for at least a chance to overcome this cruel affliction. God bless and God help us all!

3 Reactions@lisas893 So glad you were able to get assistance. It’s a shame that GD hasn’t gotten approval for Dupixent.
I’m grateful my doctor was willing to work with me and guided me in getting the medication without having to pay the outrageous copay.
I’ve had the initial 600 mg dose and then 2 300 mg doses. The itching is gone but I still have a slight rash. Nothing compared to what it was originally. I have noticed that I start to get a slight itching right before I’m ready for my next dose. Not sure when it will completely resolve itself.

1 ReactionHello all, I happen to be part of the skin health notices and noticed a different thread that mentioned a scary side effect of Dupixent. I noticed a lot of posts are mentioning that medication on this thread, so I want to notify you of complications and a lawsuit that is currently happening related to this drug. Please find the attached thread and do your research if you are using it or consider doing so. Best to you all. https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/cutaneous-t-cell-lymphoma-anyone/

2 Reactions@ddb77 thank you for this information. The saddest part of all this is you reach a point of desperation so much so that you are willing to try almost anything. Dupixent is already helping a lot and I can finally see light at the end of the tunnel. After a period of time I’ll start a taper. Thanks again for caring and sharing!
