Is there any medication to help my asthma go away?
I am on 200mcg of Trelegy and take 10mg of montelukast. They have helped some but still have an asthma attack every time I go outside. The attacks aren't as intense as they once were. Just wondering what may be added or changed to relieve the attacks. Or is it just something I just need to get use to

Hi @jenniferguajardo - so sorry to hear your oxygen levels wouldn't stay normal and that you had to go to the ER.
Here is some information from Mayo Clinic on collapsed lung, or pneumothorax:
- Pneumothorax https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pneumothorax/symptoms-causes/syc-20350367
Did the ER set you up with oxygen, then? I don't know specifically about whether a collapsed lung could mimic asthma, but a lung specialist, a pulmonologist, would. Do you have a follow-up appointment with a pulmonologist?

1 Reaction@lisalucier I went to the ER yesterday and was told I have a partial collapsed lung on the base of my lung. My oxygen levels wouldn't stay normal. I was told I need to o be on oxygen. Could a collapsed lung mimic asthma? Or r they two different symptoms?
@lisalucier That's a good idea thx u. I'll look into it.

1 Reaction@jenniferguajardo - scary about your son passing out at work. Yes, luckily someone saw him and helped him.
That would be a really good question to ask his doctor as far as what to expect for the future of your son's asthma, as he or she would have a good idea of exactly where your son is at as far as severity of his asthma right now.
Do you know if your son got to ask the doctor about this? If not, do you think he'd get a message to the doctor inquiring about this?
Thank you
@lisalucier My 28yr old son called me yesterday and told me he was diagnosed with asthma. I didn't get asthma till in my 40s. He passed out at work luckily someone saw him and helped him. Just wondering if u have any idea if he may get asthma as bad as me over time. He was diagnosed a lot younger then me. So I'm worried about his future health.

2 ReactionsI had always worn a mask on public transport or on the plane. I realised that it helped me a lot. I coughed less and was comfortable, unlike when I don't have a mask and I start coughing. Wearing masks helps me. Try it. Asthma can be stubborn to manage but until a cure is found, we must adapt to living with it.

3 Reactions@ricktweld If you are on Medicare make sure Dupixent is covered in your Part D drug plan or Part C Medicare Advantage formulary. If it's covered then total costs for the year cannot exceed $2000 (the $2000 cap includes the entire batch of prescriptions you fill, if ALL are on the formulary). If it isn't then take advantage of Medicare open enrollment to look for a new plan.
If not on Medicare, you can check with your healthcare provider's insurance staff for more options.
@ricktweld Unbelievable!
@covidstinks2023 I misunderstood my copay of $500 per month. Was informed yesterday that the copay is $2,028 per month!!!! Forget that! Hope you have better luck.
