Is it okay to be in a calorie deficit at 14? will it limit my height?
for around 4 months i limited myself to around 2000 calories and lost a good 18 pounds or so. the problem is i didn't grow much during that time. i'm just worried i'm pushing it to far and messing with my height potential. i'm sitting at 5'9, 230 pounds. my mom is 5'3 and my dad is 6'1

Congratulations on your weight loss! Are you working with a dietitian/nutritionist to ensure your nutrition-supplements and meal plan is balanced to ensure the proper nutrients? You want to make sure to have lean protein, like chicken and turkey, plus healthy fats, like avocado, fruits and vegetables and limited simple carbs/processed foods. If you have bread, it should be whole grain, but limit breads, pasta, etc. Nuts and seeds are satisfying and fill you up but limit portions due to high calories. I add them to yogurt, salads, oatmeal, sugar free/low-fat pudding, etc.
You should have another growth spurt 15-17 so keep eating healthy, lose excess weight/fat, exercise to build muscle and improve heart health, energy, mood. My son is 16 and 6’ tall and still growing. I am. 5’4” and his father is 5’11” but there were great grandfather/great uncles on both sides that were 6’-6’5” so my son is getting his extra height from family genes.

I meant to say that my son is a picky eater and only 160 pounds at 6’ tall. He doesn’t eat a large variety of foods and limited protein options (mostly vegetarian) but I ensure he has multivitamins/supplements. I think you will have no problem growing in bone height as long as you have good diet/calcium intake, sleep well, exercise, avoid smoking/vaping/alcohol/drugs, etc. My son is a big milk drinker so that has helped his growth.

Losing weight is fine if the weight loss is medically supervised. If your diet is missing certain foods it may affect your growth at 14.
If you haven’t already done so you should discuss this with your pediatrician or family doctor.
