I want to know if Dr. Gundry's program and medicine for "leaky gut" a scam? Lucien

@notmoff leaky gut is real, but it is diagnosed by your doctor or specialist. You can’t assume you have a condition just because a TV “doctor” or “specialist” says you have it - without an exam, at that. Most of these commercials are cash grabs. Only your own doctor can make the correct diagnosis and recommend the correct treatment.

Exactly right!!!! Testing needs to be done and recommendations made based on results.

May I ask what supplements you take?

Oh my gosh, I have taken a variety of products and progressed to others based on subsequent testing. The supplements I take are not ones you can order yourself. A doctor's recommendation is required and come not only from Fullscript where several doctors have access to prescribing as well as individual brands that also required a doctor's recommendation.
I highly recommend you find a doctor that can test you if you have not been tested. And then follows up with testing again to check on progress.
Best to you. It's not easy and it's a journey to get back to health.
Best to you, G.

Thank you for your comments. For stress relief, I started meditating a couple of years ago. I use two apps - HEADSPACE and INSIGHT TIMER. What I have learned that is vey helpful, in addition to meditating, is breath work that can be used anytime I feel stressed to calm me down. Learning to meditate is a process but well worth it. I especially like INSIGHT TIMER for the variety of meditations they have based on a Morning Check In on how I'm feeing. And both apps have meditations of varying lengths - 5 min to 20 minutes or more. So you can always fit in at least a few minutes. I strive for daily to be consistent.

Nondairy products are fine based on calcium levels. Both nuts and seeds contain calcium that are good for us. I snack on nuts and add seeds like chia seeds to my smoothies. Google "calcium in nuts and calcium in seeds" and you will see a list and how much calcium contained in each specific nut and seed. Yes, these supplements can be expensive. But it's also important that our bodies will absorb the calcium and minerals or we have wasted money and time. I look for the most bioavailable, meaning my body will absorb it well. I order supplements from Ancestral Supplements for bone builders - Bone and Marrow is one and Living Bone is another, SFI Health for Ultra K2 and I also take Boron recommended by my doctor from a company called trace minerals.

Hope this is helpful. We all have to find what works for us. I don't recall if I mentioned it in an earlier post, but my last dexascan showed no significant changes - meaning I held steady which is so much better than continuing to get worse. This dexascan was one year after my previous one and I asked my doctor to request it as I was curious how I was doing and didn't want to wait another year.
Best to you, G.

Than you so much. I didn’t know you could request a Dexa before 2 years. My current provider said she would d/c me on Prolia if no improvement was shown. She did not let me know that a back up med would be needed. Thank goodness for this support group. She is an oncologist perfusion clinic so Medicare covered the Prolia injections. I don’t feel comfortable with her because she never mentioned a back up med.

Thanks. I’ve had an unbelievable amount of blood work done, and nothing really shows much of anything. What specific kind of bloodwork are you referring to? Thank you!

Well, I have been researching anything that can return my regular BM since my intestinal prolapse surgery in October and now I am becoming more than a little concerned. I also read Dr Gundry's excerpts from his book and I think he sounds like he just wants money from people. Not an expert as he calls himself. I don't know what to use anymore because nothing is really working.. Doctors have prescribe the Miralax, Lactulose, Bisacodyl, Phillips Milk of Magnesia (yuk) and other over the counter things- such a waste of money .... the list goes on... I was so desperate last week I bought one of those liquid enema apparatus kits.. but I felt it was too dangerous and that I may harm myself even further... my PCP suggested eating 2 Kiwi's Fruits and at least 64 ounces of warm lemon water per day.. Apparently Kiwi's are the new "Prunes" Yoga and different types of twisting exercises sometimes gets things moving a bit, but none of this gives me the relief that is needed to be normal. I am literally full of ___ !! Today I decided I am no longer eating because it is not being eliminated properly. I can't go on this way any longer.. Each doctor seems to be of no help. This is such a condition that is difficult and embarrassing to talk about, even to a gastrologist .. I don't know... I feel something is terrible wrong.. Please, does anyone have any have any other suggestions about what I can do this weekend? Thank you so much for any response 🙁

I would suggest a high dose of Dulcolax. If that doesn't work then dynamite.

@tabithatwitch, @baz, and all...I'm so sorry you folks are having such a tough time with this. I've suffered from IBD, diarrhea for most of my adult life, often very difficult to control, and then constipation for the last several years. A doctor at Mayo helped me tremendously when he diagnosed a leaky gut which is actually a legitimate problem. He referred me to Probulin, an excellent probiotic I buy online from Research Verified. This has changed my life! I was taking an over-the-counter probiotic but this is miraculous. I take one capsule nightly and no longer have the constant issues I did for decades.

I will tell you I bought Dr. Gundry's biome supplements and take them now. I've had good results. I'm not sure if I'll reorder, but probably not as I think the Probulin is truly excellent and doing the job I need. I also take a UTI supplement from Research Verified as I was having 3-5 UTIs every year, one with sepsis, and all quite difficult to treat. I began having problems with antibiotics due to this constant use and was even prescribed antibiotics prophylactically. I now handle the antibiotic issue with my own solution...at the first sign of diarrhea, I take a Lamotil and begin taking a 2nd Probulin in the morning, 2 daily as long as I take antibiotics. This enables me to take the necessary medications and the added supplement for UTIs works wonders as well. I've only had one this year! That's a record.

I hope some of this may help someone as you go through this crazy health journey. Blessings, elizabeth

@ani04 and all...It comes in one strength. I get the Colon Support Probulin. They have one for women and other specific focus, but I use the Colon Support usually. Occasionally, I'll use the women's support, don't notice a difference.

Hope this helps you.

Unfortunately, gastroenterologists are not very good at correctly diagnosing digestive diseases either. I know from my own agonizing experience.

I've had the same experience with gastroenterologists.

Hi Tabitha,
I hope you have resolved your problem by now, but just in case you haven't or for general good health, I highly recommend to drink a lot of warm water (about 4 glasses of water-one glass is about 160ml) first thing in the morning if you can wait for 45 minutes before you eat anything else. You can start it with 2 glasses if it's too hard. You can eat 45 minutes after drinking water. You will go to bathroom more often for the first 2-3 hours and then it will go back to normal frequency. I started it during a weekend when I don't have to go to work and I liked it. So I even adjusted my breakfast schedule- I drank water first and had a simple breakfast at the office to make sure to wait for 45 minutes. If you do it for 7-10 days, I believe you will start seeing the result. In my case, the constipation went away pretty quickly (though I'm pretty sure mine wasn't as bad as yours to begin with), my dry eye condition improved greatly from the day 1 (I don't have to use artificial tears regularly anymore) and my throat became more clear with little to no phlegm.
I'm copying a link below and you can google it. Some articles have exaggerations (like it's a cure-all) and some downplay the method, but if you do it moderately enough, drinking water in the morning is usually good. I usually skip the meal part (Each meal lasts only 15 minutes. Then wait at least 2 hours before eating or drinking anything else) because drinking a lot of water in the morning already changes your daily routine quite a lot and some articles don't mention the meal part at all. If you've already mastered the drinking part and want to do more, you might try...but I don't think it's necessary. Hope you will resolve your issues soon. Best luck!

(I initially put a link here).
Ok...it doesn't let me give you a link here saying I'm a new member and not eligible to post messages with links... so pls google it. The article I found for you was "How do Japanese people drink water?" from "vinmec" site, but you can just google warm water therapy as well.
