Is anyone using a cpap mask that's causing face wrinkles
I've been using a cpap mask for a year and noticing how it's wrinkling my face so much. I'm struggling with the masks I've tried but can't seem to find the right fit. Can anyone please tell me what else I can do to keep from aging so fast? All help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I've been using a CPAP for 25+ years, and any wrinkles are from just plain getting older.
My wife tells me I still look good, but she's biased. What do you think?
Is your mask on too tight?

6 ReactionsSir you look very good. Actually a lot better than me and I only started using it last year. I struggle with the f20 mask I'm using now throughout the night by losing so much air. I started noticing the wrinkles a few months after being on the cpap machine and only on the cheeks. Do you think it's from the mask being to tight? What type of mask are you using if you don't mind me asking? I appreciate your response.
Thank you very much.

2 Reactions@summer091111 I use a "Wizard" nasal mask by Apex Medical.
I asked about tightness because that what I thought might leave permanent marks.
If you've got lots of air leaking, you might want to get the fit checked. That shouldn't be happening.
Do you find yourself tensing up with the mask on?

4 Reactions@scottrl unfortunately I work with a medical company that doesn't bother in listening to the issues I'm struggling with and just send send me whatever they want. I've asked to be measured but to no avail. I've mentioned it to my doctor several times but all she does is send an order only to be charged for doing nothing. The medical company is all about charging my insurance company and nothing else. I kept the f20 for the pad it has thinking it might help but it's not. I do find myself tensed up with the mask on that I end up taking it off instead because I can't sleep. It's all so frustrating.
I have tried a few different masks. I am still trying to find a good one. I did find one I like but it caused a problem. It went into my nose and it stretched the opening to my nose.
My problem is my face is small and most masks are for larger faces.
Still trying to get a good fit.

I first started in 2024 using a full mask covering from nose bridge to chin. That left lots of face marks. Then tried one that covered just entire nose and still had red face marks. Now I use the nasal pillows mask which is more comfortable, less cumbersome and no red face ridges. It just sits under your nose with the air pillows slightly inside each nostril. Flexible soft straps still come across cheeks but no face marks. I also have the air hose on top of head and not coming from face. I do have some air leakage each night but it is in acceptable range according to the sleep doctor. But more importantly I have no incidences of breathing issues during the night. My provider of the CPAP machine schedules appointments to be fitted and try different masks. This is a different company than the CPAP supplies vendor. The supplies vendor is aggressive about ordering additional supplies which are billed to insurance.

Your LUCKY Wife is the one that counts :-}
My husband got a chin strap to keep his mouth closed and then a "nasal pillow" style mask. Amazon was cheaper than our local store even with insurance.

2 Reactions@mw2023 I used this for a few months. The opening to my nose got very big. Keep an eye on your nose.
@minnesota10 I to have tried several mask along with the just for the nose and ended up with a very sore nose that I had to change back to the f20 full face mask. I have tried creams, covers for the mask, I've looked up on YouTube the different types of masks to learn more about them. I even went on Zepbound to see if maybe losing weight could help me get off the cpap machine all together. Not that I was so over weight but once I heard how it can help with sleep apena my doctor agreed and put me on it. I haven't noticed much change since I just started Zepbound in March of this year, only more frustration with the mask. I hope you soon find something that will work for you much better.
