Is anyone else in the ALTA3263 clinical trial for colon cancer?
My husband started ALTA 3263 about 3 weeks ago for stage 4 colon cancer (current liver lesions). He gets his third cetuximab infusion soon and takes 400 mg pills twice per day. His first scan for this treatment is in about 3 weeks. He has symptoms that are sometimes unpleasant, but nothing unmanageable so far. I'm hoping and praying this works for CRC patients.

1 Reaction@colleenyoung He's in his 2nd 28 day cycle and doing pretty well. He has some fatigue, a rash, and some GI issues that have all been manageable to date. He feels good most days. He gets follow up CT scans on Tuesday. Nervous and hopeful over here. Thanks for the invite to the pancreatic conversation.

2 ReactionsI’m assuming that this is the same (similar) KRASS inhibitor that was recently approved for pancreatic cancer? If so my oncologist told me that there is a study starting this fall at UAB and he would recommend me for it. They took extra blood this week during chemotherapy just to confirm that I would be a candidate- genetically. Previously they’ve said I’m a KRASS-G12A. Hopefully this will help. I’m curious to know the side effects.

1 Reaction@wku yes, I believe ALTA3263 is also being studied for pancreatic cancer. I think it's a kras on/off inhibitor. Some of the side effects I've seen my husband experience include a torso and scalp rash treated with steroid cream and an antibiotic, diarrhea treated with Imodium, and some instances of nausea, very little vomiting. He has to wear sunscreen and try to cover up when out in the sun too. In my opinion, he's doing generally much better with this than he did when on chemo. He has colon cancer, so he gets an infusion of cetuximab (an EGFR inhibitor, if I remember correctly) twice per month too. The infusion pre-meds (Benadryl and steroids) make him nauseous, so they talked about giving him anti nausea meds before anything else at his infusion appointments. I don't know if pancreatic patients also get these infusions. Last bit of info - he has to fast 2 hours before and 1 hour after his pills (twice per day, approx 12 hours apart). This with the diarrhea seems to have caused weight loss, so we're adding supplement drinks, like Muscle Milk, to his diet. He has a decent appetite and does cardio weekly, he feels pretty good most days. Sometimes he gets a little fatigued and takes a nap, but less often than when on chemo. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your quick response. I will be following your updates with keen interest. I also have stage 4 crc that has metastasized to my liver. Lately it spread into my lymph system and has involved 3 nodes. This prompted a change from FOLFIRI to FOLFOX. Im hoping these new KRAS inhibitors will offer some hope for getting off this bi-weekly infusion schedule. Where is he going for his treatment?
