IPF and shingles

diagnosed 6 yrs ago and have been using Esbriet almost 3 yrs case stable up to 6 mos. ago. contracted case of Shingles 5 mos. ago and can not cure it. lots of constant pain and has affected breathing ability. different meds have not cured Shingles. any advice or solution appreciated oliver22

I'm sorry to hear that you have had shingles (herpes zoster) and pain for over 5 months and that it is not responding to treatment. I changed the title of this discussion to be more specific -- IPF and shingles -- in the hopes that others will chime in if they have experiences shingles with IPF. @spicegirl @bergw2818 @tula @kturchin @loisblo @steve1948, any thoughts?

Oliver, Does your doctor think that the shingles is related to Esbriet? What medications have you taken for shingles?

I had gotten a small area like two "sores " on my face of shingles about a month ago that's my only experience hopefully that will be it

no reason to think Shingles is related to meds. Gabapintin 300 mg a common med for it. also, Nortriptylin 10mg. none last month except Lydocaine pads for pain.

Don't know if you are open to natural remedies, but here are a few suggestions. There are many healing salves available, some are homeopathic, some herbal,etc. I find Bach Flower Rescue Remedy Cream is my go- to. It excellarates healing. If you take baths, add lavender and frankensence oil. Also, google supplements that fight viruses to support your body. Olive leaf or Oregano and Coconut Oil capsules are helpful. Lastly, I get great results from Chinese Herbs.
