I had invasive ductal cancer stage 2 Post menopause age 59. Cancer is gone with clear margins. You got this. Had radiation for 6 weeks I had no issues health wise. Had skin burned near my collarbone put cream on it and was good to go. Taking anastrozole for the next 5-7 years. We are all supporting each other.

Hi Papua, I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It is very scary to hear at first. I was diagnosed in March and had a double mastectomy. Hearing the news can be very overwhelming but there is a lot to learn after. Stage, size of tumor etc. please email me if you would like to connect on this. Stacey

New diagnosis: IDC with axillary lymph node metastasis with partial micropapillary pattern
I am writing seeking help from anyone familiar with partial micropapillary pattern in Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in the right breast. Biopsy of Lymph Node reads “the micropapillary pattern of tumor is prominent in the metastatic tumor in the lymph node.”

Tomorrow is the first meeting with the surgical oncologist. We’d like to be knowledgeable about this pattern mentioned, while discussing treatment plans.

This all popped a few weeks ago on the yearly mammogram and is very small in the breast. Surprised that it is in the lymph node already but am thinking this pattern is more aggressive. Initial staging 1B, although CT nor PET has been done, just biopsies on tumor in breast and one lymph node.

Please please please share your experiences and education on micropapillary pattern within IDC. I can find so little information!

What are we looking at??

A million thanks for taking the time to look and share.

I know you are probably not getting this until after your appt. since you posted it last night, and I know you must be spinning right now, but try to breathe. The little bit of information I know about this pattern is that it is common for lymph node mets. You are staged 1b so they are not yet calling this metastatic cancer so that is really good. You might be looking down the barrel of surgery, chemo and or radiation for this.
I would definitely request a PET scan if possible, and a second opinion if you can get it done quickly, just for reassurance. I wouldn’t accept a lot of waiting around for things to happen with this one.
What did you oncologist have to say today?

Thank you so much, Chris. I am writing on behalf of my younger sister. Her first appointment is in an hour.

I can't tell you how much we appreciate your response. This blindsided her and I'm information gathering as fast as we can, in order to educate ourselves. We've had no breast cancer in the family and have a steep learning curve.

@pinkybabar1962, the word chemo is scary. You can do it.

Here's a good conversation where members offer tips so you can know what to expect and how to prepare:
