Inspire Upper Airway Stimulation
Hello! I'm curious if anyone has experience with the Inspire Upper Airway Stimulation treatment (inspiresleep.com) I do not tolerate the CPAP and am feeling more hopeful about this alternative than from a dental device. So far I've read the website and watched their videos but it would be nice to hear about the experience from someone who's not connected to the company. I've gotten to this point because I've had two different CPAP's and countless masks. Nothing works. I simply cannot sleep using a CPAP. I have an appointment with a new sleep doctor (my former doctor retired) but cannot get in until November.

Overweight people or people with severe apne DO NOT qualify
I looked into Inspire as I am CPAP user. I thought how wonderful not to wear a mask and use a machine to sleep. I saw a ENT doctor who advised me that the cost of Inspire is $25,000.00. That includes equipment and cost of procedure to implant the sensor on the back of your tongue. Sounds great but too expensive for me!

1 ReactionYes we’re out here. My husband just got Inspire implanted amour 2 months ago and it’s great. He was on the CPAP for 20 years and it was touring him. Inspire has been life saving for him and not to have to carry all that stuff around was awful.
I have just bought a dental device for $3,000. Medicare can cover some of it if you answer their questions and meet their criteria but I couldn't get to the required number without lying about my symptoms. I can't tell you any more about it. I just got measured today. I was told it was a Panthera device. When I get it in May, I will add a followup. It sounds like the bottom jaw is more impacted than I understood. Sounds like there are exercises to do. I will learn alot more in May.
Oh, I am one of those who has not done well with my cpap. I hate it. Also, I am sensitive to silicone so the nose mask is a problem for my skin. I just learned they have finally designed one with some fabric so I am checking into that too.
I am going to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix and hope to learn more about the Inspire and the procedure. Sounds like the dental device is not perfect either, and I won't do the CPap.
