Infections

Posted by paulagcl @paulagcl, Jul 25, 2023

I have a UTI infection and so far two antibiotics have not worked, and I am allergic to most other kinds. I assume this shows how my immune system is not working well now thanks to prednisone and Kevzara and that this is what will finish me off rather than the PMR. Also having a temporal biopsy tomorrow. So this is a rather anxiety-provoking week.

That does sound stressful! Hoping you’ll feel better soon.

I know this doesn't make having a UTI better at all, but for what it's worth it's not uncommon to have a UTI that's resistant to antibiotics, with or without PMR. I hope the biopsy goes smoothly. That all is really, really stressful. Thinking of you, hope you feel better soon, and are able to do something to be kind to yourself while you're going through all this.

I had a temporal biopsy and was nervous prior to the procedure. I was delighted to find that it was not bad at all. Hope that helps.

Those micro-organisms have defenses too. They adapt quicker than we do sometimes. Throwing antibiotics at those rascals makes them resistant to the antibiotics.

Hang in there I as well had a week like that and the temporal biopsy, it all turned out ok. But with PMR you’re not out of the woods with the next headache or several…just be awAre. It was a frightful experience as they did not fully sedate me in their out paitent setting!
