Inconsiderate, intimidating neighbors cause depression and anxiety?
Lets; say you have neighbors that sit outside your apartment building, smoke "weed" in public view (which is illegal) and use intimidating gestures towards you as you come and go. Could this be enough to cause legitimate depression and anxiety?

For a period of time I said nothing to no one thinking that other residents would complain or even the maintenance person would report it. This did not happen and the situation got worse and continued on. Finally I called the landlord who assured me it was being resolved but couldn't share details. So I thought the friendly neighbors I see around might know more. They did and it has been reassuring but I totally agree that it was, and still is, a major risk.
Still, you know what? I'm sick of having to leave and come back in fear to the place I live and pay rent to do so. Screw these "bad boys". If this continues much into the new year I will, as someone in this forum suggested earlier, get a body cam and record all my coming and goings from the building. If there are any threats I will forward the video right to the police each and every time. I have "had it". This is going to end.
@robertwills a bodycam is a great idea! But don’t let anyone else in the building - including the landlord - know you are wearing one!
As someone who was forced to move out of three homes in the past by horrid neighbours, I totally agree you should not have to uproot yourself to accommodate them!
You are very fortunate that the police are able to do their job where you live. In Seattle, they are told not to do their jobs. Just to observe. Very few arrests are allowed to be made and those that are arrested often get off due to the judge and serve no time at all.
That needs to change asap because this type of behavior causes a severe decrease in quality of life. The sole purpose of government is safety and happiness.
In addition, the wrong policies and practices can negatively affect a whole country or even the entire world. We have been seeing this to some extent in the US in recent years. Historically, crime has always been at the top of people's concern list, for really good reasons.
@pml Seattle Police are told NOT to do their jobs?? 😯 What do they think is the purpose of having a police force anywhere!?
Update: It's continuing here like never before! I know there is a legal procedure that needs to be followed but good grief! This is very dangerous to all the residents. I am about ready to stay at a hotel, a good one in a safe part of town, until this is over!
I know it's hard to believe but it's really true. The police have been told to stand down in many cases. The Washington State legislature passed a law that prohibits the police from chasing a known stolen car. It's gotten really bad in Seattle. I live 15 miles north of Seattle in Edmonds. I haven't been to Seattle in at least 8 years just because it isn't safe. If you want more details about what's really happening in Seattle listen to Jason Rantz or Jonathan Choe online. You can Google them. They are two of the few reporters who report the truth. I guess this is what happens in the world when as it says in the Bible, "Satan is loosed for a little season."

They don't want to chase a stolen car because that might endanger innocent people; it's better to try to find the car another way.
What do they do if they get a report of a group of people doing illegal drugs and threatening people going into their homes? I hope they take quick and effective action. In my case that was apparently done but that alone will not permanently stop the issue. The landlord must do that and they can use the police reports for proof of lease violations.
I doubt that they would do much of anything. When the muslims were harassing the Jews and not letting them go to class on the University of Washington Campus recently the police did nothing to stop it. Neither did the University of Washington's own police do anything but neither did the Seattle Police Dept. The Seattle Police Dept. have lost a lot of officers who quit because they are disgusted that they can't do their job. Also my son called 911 to report people using drugs at his bus stop only to be told that they couldn't do anything.
I'm sorry you are still going through this awful experience! Maybe you should consider moving for your own safety and peace of mind. It's not right. You aren't the one who should have to move. Pray to God to straighten this whole mess out for you. I'll say a prayer for you also.
PML
Thank you for your prayer. This will be ending at anytime now. The landlord couldn't tell me when because there's privacy issues. Well, that's what I have been told and it seemed sincere. Actually another neighbor was told the same thing so I would bet on it. Once people move in they have rights and it takes a legal process, sometimes a long one, to be followed to get them out. I will post when they are out.
