I’m on all kinds of meds for anxiety and sleeping.

Posted by dp22 @dp22, Aug 13, 2023

I’ve been on Klonopin for 2 years, 1 mg 3Xdaily. I’m also on Toprol XL, sertraline, Mirtazapine, HRT, I’ve been on ambien cr 12.5 for 20+ years. I got bad anxiety after a bad case of Covid. Now, after a dental visit last week, I’m having adrenaline rushes. No epinephrine because of my meds. I’ve had afib two times in 7 1/2 years. The last one was two weeks ago after 7 1/2 years. What’s causing this new adrenaline rushing and a new Afib incident?

Hi
Sorry to hear that, but you need to take to cardio doctor, I feel your pain I now have anxiety when I go to the doctor, afraid to hear more bad news , I have to have someone come to the doctor with me so I don’t miss anything. I feel like a kid 👧
I have a counselor I take to and there is a ginger app that you can take to someone at any time, hope this helps

in reply to @dp22 I am sorry you are not sleeping, I too use klonopin to sleep, and it has been helpful along with the Mg and melatonin I take with it. I would consult with your pharmacist because I have found they know more about drugs and drug interactions than any doctor I have ever met.

Thank you for the advice. I do believe pharmacists know more about meds.

I am sorry you are not well. I take Restoril 30mg to sleep . For me , klonopin helps somewhat with my anxiety and Zoloff . I am a wreck , my husband has cancer , I still have COVID anxiety I wish I had more advice .

What are your symptoms of anxiety? Rumination? Intrusive thoughts? Panic attacks? Etc. What type of anxiety is it? That makes a difference in what antidepressant is prescribed. Usually when the antidepressant is at full strength you need less sleeping medication. I do still take 10 mg of melatonin and a unisom sleep tab however to help me sleep. At my worst I took a quarter tablet of generic Klonopin. That was 10 years ago now.

I have generalized anxiety disorder and have been helped immensely by 20mg of generic Lexapro and 10 mg twice a day generic BuSpar. Several friends have also found these two meds to be highly effective for anxiety. Since you have the afib I would run it by a pharmacist to make sure there's no interaction.

Also if you have/had a family member with anxiety find out what they take/took because there can be a genetic component.

Also Genesight is a test that can tell you which antidepressants work the best for you. Call insurance and find out if they will cover it.

Zoloft was a disaster. I went cold turkey and on a holiday Sunday, doc went to pharmacy and had pharmacist fill a alprazalom order ahead of time. Neighbor on it, Zoloft, we hardly speak, personality changed. She gained probably 60 lbs. plus she is a physical therapist!!! SSRI can be scary for some. It’s on my list of :don’t even try it: !!!
