ICD

Posted by cinpro @cinpro, Jun 11 2:51pm

I would take any input on the different types of ICD, subcutaneous or the standard ICD. My doctor kind of left it up to me.

Anyone have an EP cardiologist at Mayo they suggest?

Thanks so much

May I introduce you to @irishpeaks ? This member has had quite the experiences with ICDs and may be better able to answer your questions.
Do you also have Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy? Is that condition causing you to have to explore and ICD?

There’s a lot that I could tell you about them from my experiences alone, the main thing is that they do, in fact, save your life. The trauma associated with the corrections can sometimes be severe to some folks. It’s true to form with any medical device, it will vary according to the patient. As far as my lifestyle goes in comparison as to before I got mine (standard left side of chest), there are some restrictions, but I have figured out safe ways around most of them. Mine doesn’t protrude much like the old ones, it’s pretty low profile. Is there anything in particular that you would like to know about? I have no problem answering questions.
