I have ILD and on oxygen therapy. Having problems with bloody nosr.

I have ILD so I’ll be on oxygen therapy for the rest of my life. My problem is nose bleeds caused by the cannula. My ENT has cauterized several blood vessels three or four times but the nose bleeds keep returning. Any ideas how to solve this?

I had a bad noze bleed then it stopped and came back again then again and couldn’t stop it so I rushed to emergency and the doctor put a pack in side my nose and thankfully to god almighty i don’t have any noze bleed since I try to keep it moist and lubricated with noze gel I find over the counter

Not due to the same cause, but my son gets regular nose bleeds. I have started him on Vitamin K, which is supposed to stop the nose bleeds. You can ask your doctor if you are able to take the vitamin and see if that helps you. Also when I was on oxygen (5 liters most of the time, 6 when leaving the house and 8 when at doctor appointments, due to highest that machines would go in the first 2 cases), my pulmonologist recommended a gel saline solution. It works better than regular saline when you have the constant flow of oxygen.

Our son has nose bleeds for other reasons, side effect of meds that dries nose. Md said to use vazeline.

When my mom was on oxygen 24 years ago, the respiratory therapist suggested that she use KY jelly in her nose. We laughed, but she said it was because it was water-based not petroleum-based. Petroleum based products are flammable, so they are not appropriate for oxygen use. I don’t know if you should ask your doctor first, but that’s what worked for my mom.

If you’re on oxygen, you should not use Vaseline or any petroleum-based product as it is flammable.
