Never-ending squamous cell cancers appearing on head and face
I have had extensive squamous cell cancers removed from my head and face for years. Seems never ending. Any advice?

First I feel your pain and anxiety over having these cancers. I can't give an exact number but probably a dozen basal cell carcinomas and one SCC. Most all on face, chest, where my past sun exposure was. The one SCC was in a non sun area and was told could have been caused by HPV infection in a wound.
My experience is to still concentrate on reducing sun damage to skin. Basal cells per my dermatologists useally come from serious skin sun damager of many years. I grew up in Florida and when you came back to school from weekend how sunburn you were was how much fun you had.
Talk to your dermatiologist about best sun screens. I use a sun block containing Zinc. Might look like a ghost with it on but I don't care better than more biopsies and surgeries. I know we don't think about it but the continuing sun damage is something we have to avoid. Do you wear a hat outside. You mentioned your head and sun can do a real number on top of head.
Ever wonder why the left side (for those of us in USA) face has more skin damage and cancers. We have our steering wheel on left side and that is where we sit when we drive. My dermatologist was talking to me about this one day saying in countries like Britian there is increase of cancers on right side of face.
If you are light skinned prone to more skin damage. But I am italian and skin darker and I still have had so many biopsies and skin cancers removed I am not sure about what happened with me.
Have you used topical 5 FU, photodynamic red light and oral niacinamide.?
I actually use a cream called c-calcipotriene/ flouocile. Not as brutal as the other cream.
Yes I do take Niacinimide.
The same thing is happening to me. 5 operations one radiation and one chemotherapy. I am now programmed for superficial radiation. Just to reduce not to eliminate the cancer from my forehead
How did the chemo and radiation work? Do you see improvement? I am going to an oncologist for the 1st time to assess an area that looks deeper on my head. Dealing with so much damage that every time i have a biopsy it is squamos cell.
What is the Red light treatment? Is it like the blue light treatment?
For deeper lesions ultrasound can be of some help in planning therapy.
@seniormed
I have never heard of ultrasound being used in various skin cancer treatment, could you explain how it is used?
My dermatologist only believes in Moh's for the big stuff on the face or a cold burning technique for other sites, I have forgotten what it is called, but it is quick & not very painful.
The ultrasound is not for treatment but mostly for diagnosis of
unusually thick or hard to detect areas of squamous cell. It is used for treatment planning and staging before treatment or surgery in difficult
areas.
