I have had a recurrence of endometrial cancer, for the second time, in my left vagina. The polyp was removed in office and I had a PET scan. The scan showed hyper metabolic uptake in the left vagina. Does this mean that I have another chance for cancer to recur? I'm scheduled for five radiation treatments. Internal radiation. Can't remember the word. Starts with a "B"

I wonder why they have to put in all the way, why not just as far as it will go?

@1995victoria I can’t speak for anyone else but in my case the device for brachytherapy was applied to where the recurrence was found on my vaginal cuff. So, the device had to be well inside my vagina and on that spot. According to my nurse practitioner who sees me for my cancer surveillance appointments (and she is the provider who found my recurrence) the spot where the brachytherapy device was applied left a small scar that is visible to her when she uses the speculum.

Oh thank you for explanation. I had brachytherapy (3 times) about 2 months after my hystrectomy last fall just as prevention treatment, so I'm still learning about this stuff.
