Do Prolia injections affect the kidneys?
I have been on Prolia injections for 2 years now. My kidneys were being effected by a lowering of GFR to 45. I am now on a years vacation from Prolia and GFR has increased to 50. My doctor said Prolia does not effect the kidneys. So now I am confused.

@cehunt57 will do! And please share with me as well!
Same here. After last Prolia shot within six months my GFR went from 59 to 43. I was taking Prolia for six years twice a year. Also ibuprofen had an effect. When I stopped ibuprofen for one month my kidney function went back to 58. But my pain management doctor told me Prolia interferes with kidney function. Something to do with phosphates. I’m going to stop Prolia. They say stop gradually but how does one do that when taking it every six months? I still have questions.
Some possible resources.

Dr. Keith McCormick
I had my first Prolia shot last month. I visited with an orthopedic dr who recommended it, but stopping after five years, wait a year, start again. That was due to my concerns for jaw issues 1% of patients have. Had not heard about kidney issues.
My doctor said something about phosphates. I’ll have to do more exploring.
