Hi @monicamanriquez
It is nice to meet you! How new is your liver transplant? When was your surgery?
My stomach is bigger 2 1/2 post transplant it’s never gone down but mine hurts 24/7 especially along the surgical scar I just live with it I swim everyday wearing a tight wetsuit to keep my guts together but it’s part of it , I still enjoy life I retired so it’s easier for me, you are not alone
My liver transplant was 6 years ago it seems like my stomach is a a little larger since then does not hurt. The top of my scar (under my breasts) itches. After I shower if the towel touches that area it itches like crazy. I live with it - the worse thing I can do is start itching it.
@pgruetz May I suggest having your transplant surgeon assess your abdomen to rule out an incisional hernia if it hasn’t been ruled out already. There is also a chance of a sensitive scar that may need a formal scar desensitization by a therapist.
@mdplastics oh yeah I had a incision hernia a really bad one and had major surgery and mesh inserted 8”x10” piece which now really hurts it was done last December I’m not sure if it gets any better I kinda doubt it I’m 65 I could see if you were younger it’s a better chance of healing right
I don’t think your age is a major factor in healing and overall outcome. If you have persistent pain, you deserve a thorough evaluation, possibly a second opinion. Best wishes for you
@mdplastics thank you
So do I and it worries me too! Additionally I seem to be losing muscle mass as my stomach is getting larger, I have been losing weight too, without trying. I go to Mayo in 4 weeks for my 2 year check up. My last bloodwork, 4 weeks ago, is the worst I’ve seen even pre transplant. Liver enzymes and hemoglobin & hematocrit is all very high.
