I am old and crippled up
I am 75. I can not sit, stand, or walk. I can not ride in a car. I can find no one NO ONE to help me. I worked all my life and ow I am crippled up and can not do anything. Doctors will not help me, the VA will not help me, Medicare will not help me, AARP will not help me. Right now I am just trying to find some organization that will help me get back up on my feet. Anybody got any ideas? Thank you for reading my gripe.

I am in Oklahoma.Been here since 1965. Came here to go to collegeNo, I do not know anybody in the medical field. That ts one of my problems. And actually,that is what I am looking for I am sure that there is a way that I can get help if I can only find the right person to help me.Why am I so stand offish about 911? My wife's appendix ruptured last year. Yes, pretty scary. I can not drive so I was calling to try to find someone.to take her to the hospital. I called local churches and they would not help me. I called 911 and it took an hour and a half for them to show up.
@okwrangler Hi Wrangler. I don't know what happened but all your quote regarding the July 2, 2021 response from Mayo Clinic Connect came through as numbers, letters and symbols, with no text. I'll try to contact our technical help, Colleen Young, to see why you've had that happen twice now.
You were going to tell us your story, but it didn't come through as that.
@artist01 thank you for alerting me to the extraneous html code appearing in some of the messages. I have removed it and you should be able to see @okwrangler's messages now.
@okwrangler, I believe this code is being added because you are responding by email. When you get an email notification from Mayo Clinic Connect, please click the blue button VIEW & REPLY. This will take you to the website where you can reply without getting the jibberish code attached to your message.
@colleenyoung. Thanks so much for attending to this, Colleen. Laurie
@okwrangler
I totally understand your frustration. I've had Epilepsy for 54 years and received some lousy advice and care but I fought back. My dad was paralyzed caused by a drunk. I took various doctors to court on his behalf 5 times not to mention arbitration hearings for my mom & dad.
Sorry to disagree Laurie @artist01 but nice doesn't always work. Sometimes you have to fight for your rights.
Jake
@jakedduck1 and @okwrangler. I hear what you're saying, Jake. "Nice doesn't always work". Believe me, I've gone through the same mill for over 65 of my 86 years, for many, many times too. All I'm saying to @okwrangler is that, at first, in order to get ANYWHERE with the medical system, you kinda' have to play the game in the hope of getting the help you need. We have to try not to be a pain in the neck to the docs at first. I've had to "comply" more times than enough just in order to keep the ball rolling in the direction I need it to roll. It's difficult to help Wrangler get the help he so urgently needs.
@okwrangler
You mentioned when you call 911 that the sheriffs office answers. Do you live in a rural area where the county provides law enforcement instead of an incorporated city with it's own police dept? Perhaps you live in a small town without adequate medical facilities. Do you have access to a major medical center? Are you near Oklahoma City or Tulsa?
Jake
Thank you all for understanding
Thank you.
@okwrangler I did a simple search, using Google, for your County:
Garfield County Human Services Dept
580-548-2100
2405 Mercer Dr, Enid
Long Term Care Authority Enid Area Agency on Aging
http://www.ltcaenid.org/
[this is a great website with a lot of resources listed!]
Area Agency on Aging Helpline
580-237-2236
202 W. Broadway, Suite A, Enid
These are for your county, so don't be put off if you do not live in Enid, they are using the county seat. I would encourage to try calling one or more of these resources to help you address what you are looking for. Will you contact them and let me know what you find out?
