I am new here and just recently found out I have neuropathy.

How do you deal with unpredictable neuropathy pain? I don’t have any meds for it yet. It hits my feet and calves of my legs.

@granny73 try compression socks (day and night). I have chemo induced p.n. at feet and hands. Mostly just c o ld numb feeling like with hitting elbow funny bone. Not really "pain", so no meds worked. I also wiggle the my toes and fingers a lot, type, play piano, swim, etc to get blood moving and retrain brain to recognize nerve impulses. If your neuropathy is c aused by a chronic condition, then different things might work but until you manage underlying cause it will continue.

I found out the underlying cause of my PN. It is related to celiac disease for which I tested positive last July. So soon it will be a one year anniversary that I will be gluten free. I had a setback of sorts with an unnecessary shin shave biopsy (no cancer found) but apparently the dermatologist damaged peripheral nerves in my shin/calf and this has amplified my neuropathy. In addition, there was a long cold winter here in NYC and neuropathy dislikes cold. I refuse to take any oral meds--but was prescribed Rx lidocaine patch for the shin. I do believe in getting the blood moving as you say because it brings nutrients and healing to our body so I do a stretching program for 20 minutes, strength training 2x per week, and frequent walks. It is not easy to always find out what causes neuropathy-I am outside the most identified groups--and I had many tests done before the blood test for celiac. My hope is that when my shin heals and it could take many months, my neuropathy will lessen.

Magnesium glycinate is a good pill to take to avoid cramps. Also suggest depending where you live look into CET treatments. What I've seen is mainly offered in north Texas. I had rothby below the knee on the left leg and also in both feet. CET treatment has helped reduce that by 75%.

I goggled CET treatment and came up with a clinic in Texas. It sounds promising but not for everyone! I'll look into it to see if there are any clinics that offer it here in Florida. It sounds like it's something new. I've been taking Magnesium Glycinate for many years. It helps me sleep more soundly.

@granny73
Compression socks have helped me a lot with neuropathy in my lower legs and feet. I use Therafirm CoreSpun light support knee high socks. It took me a few tries to find socks that were comfortable. I put them on when I wake up in the morning and don't take them off until bedtime. They're extremely soft, comfortable and easy to put on. I can walk pretty well with them on. Walking is not so good at night when I remove them!

Thank you, I have some on order.

@arcuri24 I thought you stated that the doc damaged your nerves? If so, just know that it takes 1 to 2 years because the regrowth is slow.

I live in Broward County, South Florida, and I urgently need a doctor for possible peripheral neuropathy. I can’t sleep at night because of the pain in my left hand. I am 65 years old, and my husband was diagnosed with Corticobasal Syndrome in 2019.
I am new here, and this is my first time posting.
I would greatly appreciate any help.

Welcome @van2604, Sorry to hear that you are not able to sleep due to the pain in your left hand. There is another related discussion that your husband might find helpful to connect with other members with the same condition to learn what they have shared.
-- Does anyone have CBS (corticobasal syndrome)?

If it's an option for you, Mayo Clinic Jacksonville would be a good place to have your hand looked at. You can find more information here - https://mayocl.in/1mtmR63.

I have pain in my hands that sometimes keeps me awake but it's not connected with my neuropathy. I have carpal tunnel along with degenerative arthritis in both hands. Mayo Clinic has more information on carpal tunnel here - https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/carpal-tunnel-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20355603.

Is the pain just in your left hand?
