Want to discuss prolapse bladder or any kind of prolapse

Posted by Tanglefoot @tanglefoot, Aug 2, 2015

I am looking to discuss prolapse bladder or any kind of prolapse that other ladies have experienced as well. I would also like to comment on incontinence as well. There is a lot to talk about when it comes to prolapse bladder etc and it seems to be a silent epidemic among women. If there are others out there like me, lets talk about it and I have some solutions. I am surviving prolapse bladder without surgery and I have been living with it for over ten years. I wear a support garment that is light and easy weight and fits right under my existing underwear. Don't know what you are doing or wearing, but I would like to hear from you. Thanks.

Has anyone had bladder prolapse surgery without problems? Thank you. Louise Harper

Yes, I had it last fall --Colpoclesi surgery. I would highly recommend it if you are no longer sexually active.

Thank you! All I hear is horror stories. Have an appointment tomorrow with a NP to discuss pessaries. Don't really want one. Just want to fix the problem, not put a band-aid on it. Where did you have it done and was it outpatient? Also have an appointment on May 2nd with a urogynecologist. Louise

I had it done at a hospital in Minneapolis Minnesota. I was supposed to go home the same day but due to the fact I hadn't urinated, I stayed overnight. The surgeon gave me a few pain pills which I needed for the first day at home. The stitch site was quite painful after surgery but after putting an ice pack on, it was O.K. From my experience I would highly recommend this surgery. It was a miracle, I told the surgeon when I went back for the first checkup. I wear a pad in my underwear because there is minor discharge and no doubt will always be. I highly recommend this surgery.

I have been wearing a pessary for about 5 years due to bladder
Prolapse. It’s really no big deal. I put it in every morning and take it out and clean it every night. I chose to try this instead of surgery and so far there have been no issues.

I have been using a pessary probably for the same amount of time as you. I remove twice a week and use estradiol at that time. It really isn't a big deal unless you have severe arthritic hands. It takes a few sizes and styles to get to one that you literally don't feel. I will be 82 and very rarely feel an urgency...so great not to have that. Surgery is not on my list. Whatever works but I really think it should be tried...so easy to pop in and out...not messy at all.

I had complete success after the second surgery! My first surgery was by a OB doctor. I had major prolapse, bladder, uterus and some in the colon area, it happened on day after major lifting and I had my insides hanging out of my vagina. I had no idea that I should go to a prolapse specialist and not go to an OB/GYN who was mainly delivering babies.
For my first surgery the doctor tied up the prolapse to my existing aged tissue. It failed because it lacked support. My second prolapse surgery was performed by a specialist, a surgeon who only performed prolapse surgery in a major medical facility. He used the "new mesh" to tie up my prolapsed tissue. Now I had support for the tissue to grow into. He also put in a bladder sling, to lift up my urethra and my urge to urinate frequently was eliminated. The recover time was dramatically less than expected, and pain was tolerable with meds for about a week. The hard part for me was no lifting or heavy cleaning like mopping or vacuuming for 3 weeks.
Those on this site and others know what an allergic person I am based on dozens of contact allergies. Yet now 10 years later I still have no inflammation or allergic reaction. It's wonderful to feel youthful again.

Thank you! When I went on this site, I only had a bladder prolapse, which was bad enough. This past week I developed a uterine prolapse also. I am very uncomfortable, and my uterus won't even stay up now when I push it up. It slowly slides down. Saw the NP a couple of days ago, and she said I went from a stage 1 to a stage 3 in a few months. She explained pessaries, but it didn't sound like it's for me, especially with the uterine prolapse also. I have a small rectocele also, and she said he could fix that without a problem if I do the surgery. I have an appointment with him May 2nd. He is a urogynecologist.
