My recollection is no pain and minimal bleeding. Took it easy for the rest of the day and was fine the next day. The main thing I remember is that they gave me so much IV fluids that I was desperate to pee while on the way home.

3 Reactions@dougajoi I had a hysteroscopy and D&C under anesthesia. It was the “twilight” anesthesia that you get when you have a colonoscopy. I woke up with pain due to the air used to inflate the uterus for the hysteroscopy. Since I wasn’t driving I asked for pain meds. By the time the pain meds wore off the gas pains were gone. Recovery was easy after the gas pains went away and by the next day I felt like I had not had the procedure the day before. I had minimal bleeding and used a menstrual pad for about 24 hours.

2 ReactionsI was completely out during the procedure. I realized later that it was done by a resident, and I'm sure they didn't want me watching.
Hi @dougajoi, have you had the hysteroscopy and D&C? How are you doing?
Hi there,
I never had a D & C but I did have a hysteroscopy and had no problem with it at all. No pain, nothing, and it was over fast. Hope you are doing okay. Keeping you in my thoughts.

1 ReactionYes, had hysteroscopy and D and C under GA . A huge polyp found in the uterus blocking entrance in addition to other small ones and removed. Still recovering, still some spotting and mild period like cramps although way post menopausal. Very very very grateful that biopsy came back as negative.

1 ReactionThank you. Needed pain meds when woke in recovery and given Fentanyl IV. Mild pain thereafter for 24 - 48 hours. Still recovering. Mild intermittent period like feeling and spotting. Perhaps at my age (75) recovery takes longer. So thankful biopsy benign.
Oh, that's great news that the biopsy was negative. Awesome. Hope you feel all better soon. 🙂 Such terrific news!!!

1 ReactionThank you for asking.
Still have intermittent brownish discharge (spotting) but no longer having that period like aching feeling of younger years when menstruating. Still being careful in the shower not to get anything up there and risk infection so I’m not doing my regular hygiene routine with the shower wand until the spotting stops. Using baby wipes but it’s not the same clean feeling. At least have energy to get the rest of me well cleaned and groomed.
Apologize if this is too detailed of an experience but I wanted to be helpful to other woman that may have aftercare questions.
