Hypotension
I hear a lot about hypertension but I have hypotension. My resting pulse is 40 something and my blood pressure is 90/52. I have to be very careful when I stand up quickly- I get the spins. I really do hate this and am always anxious.

Hello hopenr,
I was having the same issue with low BP and heart rate. My symptoms improved once my cardiologist reduced my metoprolol and verapamil. I check my vitals twice per day and record on an app to trend the rates and the systolic and diastolic ranges. I recommend talking with your cardiologist about your symptoms.
I forgot one item. One reason for low BP and heart rate is dehydration. Try drinking 12 oz. of water and recheck your vitals in 15 minutes. See if this helps.
I can always use a reminder to drink water! Thank you.
Good advice! I am under orders to drink 2 liters of water a day. I have a water bottle that I have with me and sip several times an hour. Otherwise, I would forget to make sure I am hydrated.
Great! Discussions about HYPOtension. I am 86 years old and female. History of dizziness and blackouts. To far gone for pace maker and doctor never suggested abulation. I am taking Eliquis half a 2.5 mg Metropol sussinate mornings (withhold if BP is below 110), Digoxin at lunch time Mon.-Fri., and 2 Midodrine if BP is below 100 @ 8a.m., 2 p.m. This is a constant dance and checking B P. No longer have black outs, or a lot of dizziness, but much weaker, and developed symptoms from meds; blurry vision, itchy scalp, weird sleeping habits, and some hair loss. Digoxin is related to digitalis and can be poisonous, so only take 5 days a week. This is a lot of info for you, but changes have slowly corrected some of my major problems. Miss being active, and not gardening, but that is part of old age anyway. Much luck and more power to you all.
Yes, I too drink a lot of water. Also, Dr. mentioned to shake a small amount of salt in palm of hand and ingest it, or a little coffee, (even decaf since it has cafine in it.) If I'm really dragging, after taking meds as prescribed, I try coffee. Haven't drank if for many years, but seems to help for a few hours.
I am sorry to read that you have given up your active lifestyle. You did not say if your doctor was a HCM expert. I have a couple of 85+ year old friends who received pacemakers, have you considered a second opinion?
