How to avoid eye damage watching solar eclipse

You can damage your eyes watching the solar eclipse. Here is a good article about it from NIH:

I'd like to hear from others about how to protect eyes. I plan to just watch the event on TV.

Thank you, Don. Yes, we will get a good view on TV and it will be safe. How do we know we can trust those glasses?

Good question. I would worry about how reliable the glasses are to block UV and other rays. There are multiple TV stations covering the eclipse so I'm sure there will be some good clear shots of the eclipse.

Don, I plan to view it on tv. It is supposed to be cloudy all day where I live. I am outside of the total eclipse zone.
I do appreciate reading the NIH code for the real eclipse glasses. There was a warning on news last evening about fake ones being distributed unintentionally at local university campus libraries. Hopefully the warning message reached all of the students.

We were in South Texas, and even with cloud cover managed 3-4 quick views of the 90% state.
Here's what I captured with my cell phone. I can't wait to see my kids' pics from Lawrenceville, IL where it was a total eclipse and sunny.
