How often should equipment be sterilized?

I sterilize my equipment twice a week by using boiling distilled water. I have seen others who sterilize their equipment daily. I think NJH says to do it once a week although that was awhile back and it may have changed. How often do you sterilize your equipment?

It depends on who you ask and what you’re comfortable with. Depending on your disease state and risk tolerance, you may choose to sterilize after each use, others sterilize daily or weekly. I haven’t read of anyone going longer than a week.

For official guidance, I’d follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. Otherwise, you’ll hear everything from after each use to weekly and all points in between.

Personally, I use a baby bottle sterilizer with distilled water, generally once a day, though it’s not a hard & fast rule. Occasionally, I boil my equipment in distilled water for 5 minutes or so.

It’s also a good idea to replace equipment according to manufacturer recommendations, or if treatments start taking longer. Hope you’ll hear from others!

@scoop Thank you for your thoughts! I don't mind letting them air dry but I am traveling a lot (locally in US) and would like a way to dry equipment in a more protected environment. Might use BB sterlizer for short term.

I sterilize my neb and aerobica 2 times a day after each use, following doc’s recommendation. To sterilize, I’ve used the same rectangular egg cooker after every and w distilled water. I’ll look into bottle sterilizer. Best, Jessed
