orgovyx seems to have a faster return time then say lupron or eligard does from basic data on these lupron and eligard are like gen 1 versions means they have been in use quite a long time orgovyx is a newer gen 2 versions so not as much long term data on it and its reaction times vs the other 2 are out yet but some show its a bit faster T return time vs the other 2, thier is more meds then these but dont have info on which is which and which is better for each aspect of target response and side effect terms thats kind of a vague area on data

My understanding is that Orgovyx lets go in a shorter time and you start feeling better quicker. From what I have been told Lupron has a half life equal to the time frame you took it for. I will report back shortly after I finish in the middle of July. So over this slow grind to the bottom as it is harder to get a full nights sleep. On the plus side no hot flashes which is something.

It’s different for everyone. The rule of thumb that I’ve heard others mention is that Lupron (in my case Eligard) will remain in the body (and suppressing testosterone) for about as many more months as the injections were for. That actually happened in my case.

I had two 3-month injections, the 1st on 14 April 2021; the 2nd (& final) on 9 July 2021. My testosterone went as low as 3.0 ng/dL on 16 September 2021 (PSA down to < 0.008 ng/mL). My testosterone didn’t return to normal until my 25 February 2022 test - about 7 months after that 2nd (& final) 3-month injection.

My PSA started to slowly increase at that point, now varying between 0.3-0.5 ng/mL. At my most recent PSA test 3 weeks ago, my PSA was 0.43 ng/mL. Everything going as planned (so far).

Hope that helps answer your question.

Hi,
Did you have a prostatectomy as well as the Lupron treatment?
Thanks so much!

No. With outcomes being statically equivalent, prostatectomy ranked last in my treatment choices:
> 1st: Proton radiation
> 2nd: IMRT
> 3rd: SBRT
> 4th: Surgery

We started hormone therapy about a week prior to the start of proton.

Depends on your age? Depends on length of treatment time.

Thanks for your reply.
How high did your PSA originally get to?
Do you mind me asking your age?
Thanks so much!
Sincerely,
Jonathan C

The highest my PSA ever hit was 8.050. However, immediately prior to my first Eligard injection (one week prior to the start of radiation) my PSA was 7.976.

Having started annual PSA testing in 2000 (at 45y), I was 56y when I was initially diagnosed (in 2012) with low-grade, localized disease. I was on active surveillance for 9 years, and then had treatment at 65y (in 2021).

Six and a half years ago I was on Lupron for six months. After three months, my testosterone was 400. Four years ago, I was back on Lupron with Abiraterone for three years. After nine months off ADT, my testosterone is up to 97. I will get another test in two weeks and am hoping for another 50-80% increase. My body hair is returning but my hot flashes, bone density and emotional lability have not yet improved. My red blood cell counts, blood pressure and blood sugar have also improved.

Count yourself lucky. Once the ADT turned off my testosterone production, it didn’t come back. After a year of zeros, we added testosterone back into my body. My blood count also rebounded.

I am 74. The older you are and the longer you were on ADT the longer it takes if at all. I am happy that my testosterone is returning slowly, but am open to supplementing it if needed. At least my cancer hasn’t come back yet 😊
