How do you guys remember to take your medication?
My automated pill dispenser isn't working correctly and I ended up forgetting my medication AGAIN and was at ER all day yesterday from having seizures.

@nitsuait I feel what you are going through. I, happen to be a 'night owl' myself... Plus I am on SO many medications, I have a very hard time waking up early in the morning... Even if my 1st schedule for pills is between 6:30 & 7 AM. I try to insist that appointments be made in the afternoon. When someone is on 22 pills a day, it's hard to fit them into my daily routine normally.
Another reason I have a hard time remembering to take pills every 4 hours is the fact that I had brain surgery in 1992. That in the end, screwed up my memory especially taking pills on time... Yet the solution to that is that I now have Home Care coming to my door 4 times a day, every 4 hours, paid for by provincial health. I make sure my prescriptions are supplied in a bubble pack to make it easier for the various workers. What I love about this service is that these folks really do care & come when they are scheduled, always with shared smiles on their faces. Because I'm happy to see them, they're happy as well!

Please use a Pill minder you can get one at any drugstore by the cash register
Mine is for am and pm. I load all my meds on Sunday morning for the week and it also helps me with keeping meds from running out.
I hope this helps you 😘

The problem with those is you need to remember to take them.
Having epilepsy for 60 years, has taken a toll on my memory. I use an automated pill dispenser, with an alarm that goes off and after the pills are dumped out. If I don't get them it will text me if I still don't get them. It will call my brother.
Take care,
Jake

Extended release meds are convenient to take and are more effective by maintaining a more stable blood concentration reducing peaks & valleys thereby reducing side effects.
I asked my Neurologist years ago if I could take all of my medication in the morning and he agreed so that's what I've been doing ever since and it's still a major challenge to remember, especially if my alarm doesn't go off.

You're right. A pill reminder is something simple and very helpful for organizing our medications. Thank you for sharing that! Out of curiosity, how do you remember to take your AEDs, which usually need to be taken at a specific time?
