How do I find a doctor familiar with severe chlorine exposure

About 2 months ago, I was exposed to severe chlorine inhalation from a swimming pool. When tested, the pool chlorine level was 30. Should have been between 1-4. I was exposed for hours over several days.
Ultimately, I developed pneumonia and was hospitalized for 8 days.
I do have a history of childhood asthma, which hasn’t bothered me in years. I now am experiencing trouble breathing whenever I move.
My problem is that I cannot find a doctor familiar with severe chlorine exposure. The pulmonologistsI have found seem to have no idea how to treat this. I am in the Tampa area. I can travel.
Can anyone suggest a doctor? Has anyone had a similar experience?

True the chlorine fumes/odor is so strong. I now wear a mask that helps when I go in.
I probably have some damage from the chlorine but I think my BE is an accumulation of things lived and life lived for a good thirty or more years.
I do use chlorine, I have been masking and holding my breath when I open any of the chemicals and after opening I walk away to breathe and then go back to the can, hold my breath and grab some tablets and then again move away from the can and breathe.
I switched to liquid chlorine for the summer a couple of years ago and only use tabs in the winter here in OKC.

I wish I had filled in the money pit instead of remodeling it in 2022 but the thought of doing that in the backyard also bothered me. Oh well another hard lesson learned.

In in August of 2022 until late 2023 I didn't understand much about the causes, symptoms and tasks of having BE. It took a trip to National Jewish in Denver in Oct. of 2023 to get me on the right path and also finding Mayo Clinic Connect. Mayo was a huge find for me. The local pulmonologist was not helping and I believe clueless. When I told him I made an appointment with NJH he was O.K. with that and thought it was a good idea. AND IT WAS!

I will try to call John tomorrow to see what he has to say and let you know.

Hi Barbara
I’m not familiar with the Denver Hospital, but will do some research. Thanks for the information.
I’d love to know about the son. When I go into the pool store I am overwhelmed by the chlorine smell. I don’t know how these young people can work there.
I am in a waiting position now. I will be going for respiratory therapy and the have follow up X-ray and scans in a month. I suspect my lungs were burned by the chlorine since the exposure was so massive. Are you still using chlorine or have you switched to a salt water system?
