Hot flashes and chills related to PD?

Have same symptoms. Also cold
all the time. Crave warmth. PD
is very difficult with many types of physical issues expressed.

I wonder if it is a medication. My husband has been cold for many years. He has PD. Suddenly he was hot all the time. I asked his drs about it and never had an answer. After about 2 months he went back to being cold all the time.

@timber2026 I was recently diagnosed with PD and have not been placed on any medications yet. I am now learning that many symptoms I’ve been associating with old age (I’m a 67 year old male) are actually symptoms of PD. The hot flashes/chills are a new experience and I haven’t come across any information on this being common with PD. I have also become very intolerant of hot weather ( high 90s and above). I had lived in Tucson, AZ for over 20 years and thrived in the heat. I retired to the White Mountains where the weather is much more moderate two years ago. On a recent trip back to Tucson I was absolutely miserable going outside in temps above 90 and could only tolerate 5 to 10 minutes outside before becoming very uncomfortable, light headed and exhausted.

I looked it up and it says PD can cause sypmptoms that affect temperature dysregulation which is the body's internal thermostat. One can also experience drenching upper body or night sweats. You can also experience sudden feelings of heat, sweating or chills when Parkinson's medications are wearing off. Must take those meds at the same time every day. This has helped me and I hope it helped you. ❤️

@timber2026 Thank you, this is exactly what I am experiencing, including the night sweats. It’s helpful to know this is part of my PD.

@gregmt same symptoms here and I assumed it was PD but now I know, including the heat outside. Be nice if my wife would read this stuff then maybe she would understand me better

@louismines This is why posting to this support group is so important. It truly helps us identify our symptoms and what works or doesn’t work in coping with those symptoms. I sympathize with the frustration you are having with your wife’s lack of understanding but I often don’t understand my own symptoms. Be strong and patient, take it one day at a time, and never be afraid to ask for help.
