Horrible vaginal pain

Posted by itsmeagain @itsmeagain, Jan 18 11:24am

Recently I had 2 nights (3 hours in length) of extreme pain lying in bed . I’ve had numerous UTIs but this was much worse. I felt as though I was sitting on a bed of hot, broken glass-naked! Thought I would lose my mind. The nurse practitioner at my nursing home prescribed a 3day antibiotic which stopped it.
Has anyone experienced such a situation? Haven’t been able to get to my urogynecologist as yet.

Hi @itsmeagain - that sounds awful! I was wondering if you'd been able to get in with your urogynecologist and if so, did you find out what was going on?

Not yet. I’m dealing with another uti for which a new antibiotic was prescribed. Unfortunately the nurse neglected to tell me to take it with food or my usual applesauce and I spent half the night vomiting!

Shouldn’t there have been a label on the pill bottle stating, “Take with food.”?

Yes there was but the nurse thought the ginger ale I had was sufficient. It wasn’t.

Just an idea for next time. You might ask copilot about whether in this case ginger ale was enough to take with this medicine. Copilot will be able to check all research, articles accepted standards, pharmacy information etc and give you a better idea of how best to take your medicine.
Nurses and doctors have their life and medical study knowledge, but copilot is great at finding basically all information. Some day when you ask the nurse she/he will turn to their computer and ask copilot to check for them and then be able to share with you that no ginger ale was not enough.

I had the same pain but no UTI. Inflamed tube they said from my kidney. They told me to cover the area that burned, where the urine came out, about a 1/4 inch in, with Vaseline. Oh my goodness what a relief. I am still using it and it helps soooooo much. In about a week I go back to gyno doc to for another checkup.
