high vit b12 count

Posted by schlatts @schlatts, Nov 5, 2016

Hello. Recently my vit b-12 blood count came back 1601 pg/ml. Way high. When reading online I learned it can be associated with a slow progressing
red blood cell cancer. Has anyone heard of this?

I also had an abnormally high B12 lab result. I was not supplementing with B12 so it was odd. I just had this repeated at Mayo and now it is within normal parameters. Have you had only one abnormal reading?

Nancy Shermoen~

Yes. I have only had one reading but will have another one done in 2 weeks. I was taking a multi vitamin which I have stopped. However, I eat none of the foods that are high in B-12 so it seemed odd to have such a high count from just a multi.
