Herpes genital.. me siento diferente

Posted by darlaandrea @andreinapereira, Dec 26, 2023

Tengo herpes genital, desde hace 3 años, al principio pense que iba a estar bien, que no me haría falta a alguien, pero ahora me siento sola, mi familia no sabe que tengo esa enfermedad.. como puedo salir de esta depresión por esa enfermedad?

It's okay. My friend has it and it has not effected her life. Just be honest with partners. In time it will weaken and you won't know it's there. So many people have it, really! It's not cancer and it's not a death sentence.

Welcome @andreinapereira. “ One in five women ages 14 to 49 has genital herpes.1 There is no cure for herpes. But you can take medicine to prevent outbreaks and to lower your risk of passing genital herpes to a sexual partner.”

Here is some helpful information in Spanish:
- Herpes genital https://espanol.womenshealth.gov/a-z-topics/genital-herpes

- in English https://www.womenshealth.gov/a-z-topics/genital-herpes

I can understand that this situation is affecting your mental health and making you worried about meeting someone. You can still love and practice safe sex when living with genital herpes. There are precautions you should take. And an important part of taking precautions is telling a partner about the condition. I bet that part can be hard.

Muchas gracias por tus palabras, en Venezuela no existe educación sexual, y por esa misma ignorancia la gente te rechaza...

It must be frustrating to get frequent outbreaks. Repeat outbreaks are usually brought on by a trigger. Common triggers for genital herpes include stress, fatigue, illness, sex, and surgery. For some women, getting their period is a trigger.

Do you notice a common pattern or trigger associated with the outbreaks?
