Heart issues with LC

Posted by cpivyca @cpivyca, 2 days ago

I had a coronary calcium screening for high cholesterol - which I had before Covid - which revealed pericardial effusion (inflammation surrounding the heart) and ectasia of the ascending aorta (bulge) if I understand the report correctly. I haven't seen my primary yet. I'm a 72 year old female in great health (except LC) I eat whole foods, exercised all my life and continue as best I can, in a good weight range. Could this be Covid related?

Absolutely. Covid can definitely cause pericarditis. Covid can cause inflammation almost anywhere in the
body....especially in places were you may already have some issues.

Praying for you & Blessings to you....

I haven't been told that I have L.C. by any Dr as of yet, but if you mean "can Covid cause heart issues" (oh yes). I had Bradycardia and Sick Sinus Syndrome requiring a pacemaker and medications to control things a little better less than a year after getting L.C. and I was otherwise healthy and strong. Hopefully you get some answers and feeling better soon!

Yes, from LC I developed POTS.
Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome.

Your immune system is damaged and there are many possible side effects and secondary illnesses.

I now have POTS and ET (which is a chronic leukemia.)

It sounds like it is tied to Covid. Did you have the infection and shots? How many infections and shots did you get?

My understanding is the Covid spike protein in infection and made in your body after shots damages endothelial cells that line vessels and organs throughout your body. Many side effects and long term symptoms are caused by this damage.

For example, I never had anything show up as abnormal on my EKG but about a week or two after my 2nd shot, I had significant breathing issues and chest pain like a heart attack at least 3-4 times over 3-4 months after the 2nd shot. My EKG I had to prepare for surgery 6 months after the 2nd shot showed an old intact and lower heart chamber thickening! I was shocked. During my surgery, my blood pressure dropped significantly so they kept me longer to monitor me. I never had that happen before until Covid.

My teen son has a heart defect and has had many long covid symptoms since having Covid two times. I never got the shots for him due to his heart defect and the things I was reading about the heart impact in boys/teens/young men.

*Infarct (heart attack), not intact (just love autocorrect).

I’m so sorry to hear what everyone is going through and hope and pray for healing and recovery.
I had Covid in February of 2021, I suffered a stroke a few months later, a couple of months after that I started having arrhythmias; PVC, PAC and SVT.
I had several heart monitors, a heart disease doctor sent me to see an Electrophysiology specialist and he wanted to perform an ablation. I went in to have the procedure done, with no anesthesia, well only local to numb where they had to cut (doctor said sedation could suppress the arrhythmia) it was absolutely horrible. Felt everything, suffered through that for over an hour for him to tell me they can’t locate where the misfiring (arrhythmia) is coming from. So could not perform the ablation.
So since then I still have them, both cardiologist; heart disease and the Electrophysiology said what I’m experiencing isn’t dangerous, their words and wanted to perform the ablation to alleviate the symptoms associated with them, lightheadedness/dizzy, racing heart, fatigue etc. gave me beta blockers to help but they really only help the racing heart symptoms, not the fluttering and skipped heart beats.
So yes, between what I have experienced because I didn’t have any symptoms before Covid, researching and hearing other stories like all of you, absolutely Covid related.
Again wish you all a complete healing and sending positive energy.

Yes. I developed microvascular dysfunction, which causes the microvessels in my heart to spasm, cutting off circulation to my heart muscle, following a Covid vaccine. I'm on two Facebook groups with hundreds of people who have either microvascular dysfunction or coronary artery spasms, and many of them developed it after Covid or the vaccine. Symptoms are those of a heart attack: chest pain, shortness of breath, and other similar symptoms, with clear arteries (no blockages).

I had very early Covid (Jan 2020) - I’ve had every booster but the damage was already done.

I was healthy until my one Covid infection and have never recovered.

4+ years, and counting, LC since onset 9/11/2020...

My “Bag-O-Symptoms, as I have come to describe them:

“Every day is a new day. It’s like drawing the lottery out of my Bag-o-Symptoms to see which will ail me and to what degree. They all just wax and wane throughout my days.” (Kind of along the lines of Forest Gump’s Box of Chocolates)

-Initial Symptom Onset 9/11/2020 (after asymptomatic acute COVID infection.

-Chest Pressure: Elephant sitting on my chest

-Heart Racing/Palpitations: Jack LaLanne is inside my chest doing calisthenics

-Cognitive Issues: Getting lost in - trying to navigate through - the Brain Fog Forest (At about a month in - early 10/2020 - before I knew “Brain Fog” was a thing, my journal entry described … “Brain is in a fog - very hard to focus.”
[Entry in late 10/2020:
I’m really thinking the “brain fog” thing is a real thing. My therapist said that last week she didn’t want to freak me out, but she noticed I was missing words when I was talking to her. She knew the thoughts were there, but when I tried to put them into sentences, I missed saying some words.]

-“Crushing” Fatigue - must sit or lie down for a “Pass Out Nap”

-SOB: Feels like my lungs are wrapped in cheese cloth

-Chest Pain: Radiating gripping pain

-Nausea, followed by Full Body Flush and Heart Rate Spike (as high as 200+) with no apparent trigger (often while sitting and/or little to no exertion) … I call “Episodes”

I have learned to appreciate others whose care and concern for me is amazing. (This from someone whose catchphrase has always been, “I can do it myself.” Well, I can’t. 🤔)

Besides listening to and responding to my body on a minute-by-minute basis, I really have not yet found what helps. I've adapted and discovered what accommodates me in my current limitations. But, I continue to pursue treatment; take care of me; am resting in the arms and love of God, where all fear/desperation has been utterly cast out.

After the first several weeks of WTH???, ER visits, doctor visits with no POSITIVE COVID tests and all diagnostics coming back within NORMAL range, my fears of LC being terminal were abated. No fear.

So, yes, everyday is a new day with any range and severity of symptoms.

Now 63 years old. Although they all pop their heads up now and then to some degree, my primary symptoms are severe brain fog and imbalance/dizziness. With the assistance of an attorney with a track history of victory in LC SSDI (Federal Disability) claims, I filed for disability and was approved in less than 5 months.

It’s been a bumpy ride, but all is good.
Blessings to all!
