Healthy Bones Company
I am 79 with osteopenia per last DEXA scan. I have rejected all doctor pressure to take bone meds. Side effects scare me with all my other medical problems. I am taking now bone supplements made by Healthy Bones Company. Has anyone tried them and had better bone density result? There are many reviews from ladies who say they helped unless they are just a scam. Their website is on the internet.

I agree with your statement: " Vitamin K comes from non-animal food sources as well." In fact, I have a vegan diet and have made natto, the Japanese fermented soybeans, for decades. The K2 supplement in MK-7 form is from natto.
There have been studies of Japanese women that consume natto and they have good bone health. If anyone is interested in making home made natto, I would be glad to share what I have learned.

1 Reaction@searcher1 I am a big user of soy beans and fermented things(unfortunately I don’t think it helped my bone health and I think it’s genetics and part) however I would love the recipe for natto if you’d be willing to share!
@queenie2030 Have you found any INDEPENDENT evidence - outside of the testimonials on their website and/or Facebook - that confirm their products are superior to others with the same ingredients that are widely available? Their "educational materials" are really just ads in disguise.
Trademarked names for combinations of ingredients, lacking detail of the EXACT type and amount of each, are just a fancy way to keep you from comparing the Healthy Bones products with other similar ones that may carry a much lower price. To me, that is a red flag when deciding what products to buy. The "Bone Coach Approved" logo on their packaging is another red flag, indicating a profit motive...
So, before your next automatic refill of the Healthy Bones, you might want to consider researching some similar, but more economical alternatives...

1 Reaction@sueinmn Thank you for your thoughtful post regarding Healthy Bones Co. I too have always been suspicious of supplements but I have had results from these. Two years ago my DEXA scan showed osteopenia and a fracture in a vertebrae. I just had another DEXA scan and there is no sign of osteopenia and no fracture. The radiologist wrote that my scan is “Normal” much to my relief. I tried one of the drugs two years ago for my bones and 4 hours after each injection of teriparatide I fainted. I avoided horrible side effects by rejecting these drugs with such devastating side effects.

4 ReactionsDid you take the Fortibone Collagen Peptides for a good bone dexa scan?
Yes I took the Heathy Bones Co. collagen peptides with Fortibone. I have now added OsteoElements Pro for a better absorption of calcium. It replaces the calcium and vitamin D that I was taking.
I am interested in making natto. Can you please share?
I have osteopenia & had a recurrent foot fracture (5th metatarsal) twice. Taking Boniva or Fosomax has risks.
I have osteopenia as well. Can you share which supplements you tried? Thanks.

This is a duplicate message that I sent to loriesco, but I wanted to make sure you saw it.
I would suggest looking at an 8 minute video by "Natto Dad" which helped me ger started many years ago. He experimented for a year before developing a method for good natto. If you are interested after viewing the video, let me know and I will give you my "fine tuning" tips that I do. It is a 3 day process from soaking soybeans to the final fermenting.
Natto is known to have a strong smell and a stringy, slimly texture, which is the "good stuff". If you have not had natto before, it would be good to try some so you know what natto is. You can obtain some from an Asian food store in their frozen section. As with most foods, frozen is not as good as fresh and the only place I know of to purchase fresh natto in the US is New York Natto, which I use for the starter in my batches. The link is: https://www.nyrture.com/order-natto
The owner is amazing with a PhD in microbiology. It is pricey at $13 to $15 a jar and the shipping is expensive because they ship by air in large ice pack but the shipping cost does not increase with larger orders so I order 12 and freeze most of them. It arrives quickly and cold. A minimum order of 4 jars is required. But I only use a 1/3 cup of the New York natto as a starter for a batch that lasts me a couple weeks, so overall it is a reasonable cost.
I feel natto has been a major factor for me with controlling my psoriatic arthritis without being on meds. My GP calls me "Amazing" and I am 81. Let me know what you think and I would be glad to further discuss my experience.
