I agree with your statement: " Vitamin K comes from non-animal food sources as well." In fact, I have a vegan diet and have made natto, the Japanese fermented soybeans, for decades. The K2 supplement in MK-7 form is from natto.
There have been studies of Japanese women that consume natto and they have good bone health. If anyone is interested in making home made natto, I would be glad to share what I have learned.

@searcher1 I am a big user of soy beans and fermented things(unfortunately I don’t think it helped my bone health and I think it’s genetics and part) however I would love the recipe for natto if you’d be willing to share!

I am interested in making natto. Can you please share?
I have osteopenia & had a recurrent foot fracture (5th metatarsal) twice. Taking Boniva or Fosomax has risks.
