Posted by suerc @suerc, Dec 10, 2019

CAN ANYONE recommend to me a mattress that would be best for me. I wake up every day with a very sore back and

Hello @suerc. You may noticed I altered the title of this discussion a bit to be more specific on the topic of mattress recommendations for members who are suffering from back and pain issues. I'd like to invite a few members who are also dealing with back issues and may have some thoughts on better mattresses or are curious about the same topic. @1prettymess, @sherry44, @dementmt, @dmac5, @mlross4508, and @bernese53 have all discussed a broken back, neck surgery or RSD/CRPS on Connect before and may have some input on a good mattress.

I'd also invite you to check out the following discussion on Scoliosis and Sleep Number beds, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/scoliosis-and-sleep-number-beds/. While it is for a different diagnosis, members like @gailfaith, @sandytoes14, @jager5210 discuss beds and back pain and may also have some insight on what happened with their search.

I had back issues for 10+ years, including morning back pain, and never considered a mattress change. Then we packed up everything before our move from VA to GA and we had no bed to sleep on the last night. We considered a hotel but a friend suggested we borrow her camping air mattress. I used it and awakened the next morning to ZERO back pain. I quickly ordered the one you always see on TV and specified delivery at my new address. Morning back pain disappeared except for subsequent golf injuries. 15 years later and I'm still using the same bed.
