Yes. you can get a good coconut oil at the grocery store or Whole Foods. I can't find my coconut oil to give you the brand name. Yes, it should help with the dry mouth at night. You can do the pooling more than 1 time a day. I was told this by a dental hygenist. It also kills bacteria in the mouth. I agree that your meds are causing the dry mouth. Biotene mouth wash is also good for dry mouth, drinking lots of water is good as well. I have the opposite problem...hyersalivation! I could open my mouth and water the front yard. LOL! Medication is a double edged sword with the side effects isn't it? You have a blessed day!

Thank you for response. You have a blessed day as well!!

Me too. I find I'm always keeping sugarless lozenges within easy reach and water right next to me in bed. 🤔

I am also having a problem with my tongue getting sore. Do you have that problem too?

I had a horrific fall tripping over an above ground tree root. I ended up having two cracked ribs, face cuts, and whiplash to my back and spine. My doctor prescribed both 100 MG Gabapentin and 5 MG Cyclobenzaprine. I truly believe my dry mouth at night is caused by these medicines. Dry mouth is just horrible! I am glad I saw this article because I really thought I was alone. I plan on trying some of the suggestions from all of you. Thank you

Awww. Rest assured, you are not alone. There are more people than you can imagine that have this problem. Have you tried coconut oil? Someone suggested that. It’s helping to some degree!

Xylitol gum, Biotene mouthwash, Salvia toothpaste, drinking water and coconut oil pulling is good for dry mouth. I hope this helps!

Update. I went the Biotene products way for dry mouth. Toothpaste, mouthwash, lozenges, and mouth spray. Water and spray seem to be working. Does anyone know if Gabapentin or Cyclobenzaprine cause hair loss? I seem to be "shedding" a lot of hair. I have to figure out what in my body is doing that. I have started weaning off Gabapentin. Down from 3 100's to 2 a day for 2 wks then one tab for 2 wks. If my hair is still shedding then I will get off Cyclobenzaprine. My doctor says I had such a traumatic shock to my body and losing weight on WW she thinks hair is falling out because I am not getting enough red meat in my diet. I think it's those pills! We shall see. I can't have my hair falling out!

I had been on Flexeril, not every day (Cyclobenzaprine) for years and no hair loss (I recently was switched to another muscle relaxant....Flexeril can cause short term memory loss..I surely don't need that!). I will say the following caused hair loss for me:

1) I lost a lot of weight in 2016 and quickly....
2) I had an intense surgery in 2016
3) I started with Thyroid disease (unknowingly) at the end of 2016.

The combination of all of these caused extreme hair loss. I was not getting enough fat in the diet I was on or carbs, surgery/anesthesia puts a lot of stress on your body & thyroid disease causes hair loss. It took several months for it to stop extreme shedding. I am not versed on Gabapentin so I can't say. Stress & Covid can cause hair loss as well. It's traumatic when your hair starts coming out. Praying for you...I understand.

Thank you for your message. I have gained and lost weight all my life and never have I lost my hair. Weight Watchers allows a slow pace to lose weight so I am ruling that out for now. My doctor has checked my thyroid out not so long ago and says that 's fine. (Levothyroxine 150 MCG) I am thing that out for now. I do take Bupropion 200 MG (Happy Pill) I don't think that is it. I was taking that way before my fall. Plan to go off that also sometime. Yes, my doctor did tell me she never heard of hair loss with Gabo. I really don't like taking all these drugs. Did your hair ever grow back? If after I wean off the drugs I am still losing my hair then I will try something else. Thanks for info.

Sorry to hear you are having issues with hair loss. I am on a whole cocktail of meds, including levothyroxine - and right now I do not have a hair loss issue. In my experience, I have had hair loss over different times in my life, after I have had major surgerys... general anaesthetic - have you had any surgerys?
