Have you had experience w/ costochondritis?

HI, I had an episode in the middle of the night that caused severe pain in my mid back and sternum, it seemed to radiate around my ribs and my pain was at a 7 or 8. It lasted 2 1/2 hours with the pain, eventually subsiding to aches and some burning sensations in my mid back and shoulder blades. I do not feel it was cardiovascular. Online it mentions that it could have been costochondritis and I am wondering if anyone has experienced this and what do you do to help? Thank you!

I have had costocondritis SP? several times. It was confined to my chest. The sternum was involved.
I had to diagnose myself when the ER Doc did not know what it was. Never in my back.
Did you do something really strenuous the day before? I can usually relate it to picking up something really heavy. Take it easy friend

Thanks for mentioning that the cardiologist recommended mints. I was going to say it would be good if they were covered in chocolate LOL. However, that led me to look it up and I found an article that lists foods that can contribute to Costochondritis as well as foods that may help relieve it. I was very surprised to read that it is common amongst people with fibromyalgia. Sometimes it feels as though I know nothing about Fibromyalgia or that I’ve researched and searched out everything to make it better. It can be exhausting and sometimes feels impossible but never stop educating yourself because you don’t know what bits of info can change your life.

@tess1055 this is not a reply. It is a question. Where did you find the article about foods to take or avoid?

I lost both my parents relatively young to heart attacks. I went to the ER a few times thinking I was having a heart attack. Now I know it is likely costochondtitis and wait and see. It can be very painful’
