Have you been cured of POST COVID?

Posted by mccoydj1 @mccoydj1, Sep 28, 2023

I would love to hear from folks that have been cured from Post COVID. What were your symptoms.... what things helped you improve? what things made it worse for you?

I ask because I am currently on a recovery journey - would love to understand what you've done

God Bless You! It is a journey my friend. I have been to so many doctors to get answers. I was diagnosed with Long Covid back in July. I am now going to an Integrative Medicine doctor who treats Long Covid. I am getting IV infusions to boost my immune system. I have only had 1 and go next week for my second one. I will say this. I felt like I was coming down with asthmatic bronchitis again a few days ago and I cleared up....I have to say, it must be the infusion working along with my boatload of vitamins I take. LOL. It's like unpeeling an onion with long COVID....one layer at a time. I already battled asthmatic bronchitis, but, with COVID last year, I got double pneumonia. I have had asthmatic bronchitis about 4 times since COVID and pneumonia twice (including COVID with both issues ) and 4 sinus infections. I am on a nebulizer now for my lungs. COVID tends to attack where we are weakest. That would be upper respiratory, GERDS & joints for me. I believe I have another autoimmune disease, but, the rheumatologist cannot give me a diagnosis. My numbers are all over the place for inflammation. My arthritis got worse and so did thyroid diseases. I feel like if I can get my immune system booted up it will help so much. Praying for all of us to recover from this because God can do it! Blessings....

Probably most people who have recovered have moved on. I think for me, IF I ever recover, I will want to stop talking about all this crap. I often say, I am so tired of talking about my health.
On the other hand, if I find something that really helps my particular set of issues, I’ll let everybody know what it was before I disappear!
I hope for all of us that one day we can regain our lives and move on.

Got Covid 1/1/22. Had shots & booster. Sick 2 days. 2 weeks later fatigue, shortness of breath & cough started. Symptoms declined some but had pneumonia at Thanksgiving and everything came crashing back much worse than before. Sick for 3 months. PCP sent me to pulmonary, neurology (hands shakes), ENT (dizziness) and thorasic. So many meds, inhalers, nebulizers… nothing worked. Finally, thorasic, after a month of texts, said cough was from acid reflux. Never had heartburn before. Had small heital hernia that was cause but cure was worse than cough. Last ditch effort, PCP sent me for pulmonary therapy. Started 5/15/23 until 9/5/23, 3 times a week. First 2 months really hard but towards end of July started to feel better. Felt totally better at end of therapy and restarted my life. This week, 3 weeks after finishing therapy, symptoms are slowly returning.

Got COVID May 1, 2022. While the congestion cleared in the 2 weeks, the fatigue (limbs felt so heavy, I was crawling to the bathroom) and sore throat with swollen glands lasted for 3-4 months. After that, the gastrointestinal issues and Post Exertional Malaise with fatigue and shortness of breath have continued. Learning to pace and stay under my energy level has been the biggest help in keeping the pain manageable. But I am far from where my life was before COVID. I can't work, as I can only do things in 10-20-minute segments with 30-60-minute rest periods in between. Even sitting here on the computer is a struggle. I need my head supported, my neck is still weak. I've tried many supplements recommended by other victims of COVID, and none have helped. I have plateaued. I'm not getting worse, but I'm not getting better either.

My symptoms began shortly after my first booster in November 2021. I proceeded to go through what seemed like every speciality around Charleston, SC to no avail. My cardiologist labeled what I was doing as "the journey of what its not", and I learned that most physicians (at least here) are at a loss in treating Long COVID. But, good news, along this journey I met medical professionals that cared and they referred me to Mayo Rochester. I am nearly 2 years since symptom onset and one month into the Mayo Rochester process. My symptoms are breaking up. Is that Mayo, is that simply time? I will never know. Mayo has stated that most people have relief either partial or full in 3 months which will be the end of November.

I got covid April 2021 and have had long covid ever since. After 10 months my health collapsed and was in free fall. I started taking Low Dose Naltrexone and that stopped the free fall, but the plateau left me much like you describe - pretty severely debilitated. Then I started taking Abilify. That has led to about a 75% reduction in symptoms - life changing improvement!

Research Dr Peter McCullough, he has put out a protocol of supplements to clear the spike protein … which settles in bodies in diff places…. Heart, digestion, organs….

It's a bunch. Here they are. Blessings & Prayers.....

1) Vitamin C - 1 1,000 mg tablet
2) Magnesium - 1 200 mg tablet
3) Mega Sporebiotic (Probiotic for the gut) - 1 daily
4) Quercetin - 1 daily
5) Vitamin B2 - 2 a day (Has almost completely stopped me from having migraines!)
6) Vitamin D3 + K2 - 1 5,000 i.u. daily (My D3 is still low!) Trying a different brand.
7) Omega 3 Fish oil liquid - 1 tsp daily
8) B Complex - 1 tablet daily
9) B12 injection once a month
10) Ginger chews by Prince of Peace (Amazon) 1-2 a day for stomach upset/reflux. Any more than that causes bloating with me.
11) Melatonin - 1 5 mg tablet 1 hour before bedtime for sleep.

Please talk with your doctor before starting any of these to make sure they are a good fit for you!

Recently, omega 3 fish oil supplements are known to be cancer causing. Get your omega 3 from food sources. Also, b12 supplements should be based on your mthfr genetic mutation if you have one. Yes, check with your doctor before taking any of these supplements.
