Hashimoto’s - how to reduce fatigue?

Posted by lkhorton01 @lkhorton01, 2 days ago

Hi, there -
I am eating carefully (limiting sugar, etc.) and taking Levothyroxine, yet still need 9-1/2 to 10-1/2 hours’ sleep every night, plus an afternoon nap (try to keep naps short)…. Plus I make sure to exercise every day.
*Have you found ways to lessen your need for excessive sleep with Hashimoto’s?

Thanks in advance for your helpful replies….

Yes, I have! It works for me. I have eliminated eating gluten, dairy, soy and seed oils. I also had a food sensitivity test run and have eliminated eating a lot of those foods as well. Everybody’s body is different, but when I eliminated these foods, I actually had a lot more energy. You may also want to have your Thyroid Labs run, which can cause you to be tired. If you do this, ask your doctor to run your. TSH, T3-free, T4-free, Reverse T3 and your TPO Antibodies. The results will tell you if you have either Hypothyroidism or Hyperthyroidism. Good luck on your health journey!

I just finally had a Functional medicine clinic do cortisol testing and mine is very low especially in the morning which starts me off just fatigued. None of my other regular doctors seemed to take fatigue seriously. Just chalked it up to Menopause and Hashimoto's. My TPO after years being high was actually a 6 in normal range. My ANA came back positive though, so now I wonder if this has to do with Adrenal fatigue. Eating healthier, at least trying. Clinic also found bad bacteria in gut and took Ciprofloxican, which I hate, but not having horrible bloating I had before.
