Has anyone's taste for food changed since surgery
After my bariatric surgery, June of 2025, I can't eat certain foods, the texture of food has changed. I get gaggy a lot. My stomach hurts a lot after eating.
I mostly eat Greek yogurt, protein shakes or water, tuna in the pouches, crackers.
I'm glad I don't get hungry, I'd be upset that I can hardly eat

That is a shame you have such a small food group to pick from, and it does not include any fruit or vegetables.
There are certain foods I have not been able to tolerate since surgery, such as certain dairy products. And also occasionally have GERD (reflux) if I lie down after eating.
During a recent support call, the nutritionist mentioned that you should chew food until it reaches the consistency of applesauce. I am guilty of eating too fast, and that might be part of my relux problem
Are you gagging because of the taste or because of problems swallowing?
Have you talked to a nutritionist about it or another health provider?

1 ReactionDoes your doctor monitor your labs and addfess any vitamin deficiencies? I’d specifically check B12 levels.

June I go for my year check up. The original surgeon left and they just got a new surgeon in May. I haven't seen him yet but I will address everything that's happening

It's the texture I think, it was at first anyways. Sometimes the smell makes me gaggy lol. I've just had some weird things happening to me my nerves. I believe I have Functional neurological disorder, That where your brain and nerves are not corresponding. Some like that. I think it's affecting my taste and a lot of other things. I'm just starting to find out to manage that also
