Has anyone used CBD oil for chronic pain? And do you have results?

Posted by rensacb @rensacb, Jan 22, 2019

I'm a chronic pain suffer of 35+ years. Scoliosis is the culprit. Not a disfiguring curve but non the less painfully destructive. Almost every disc is bulging from 3mm to 6mm. I've had 2 spinal fusion. C 3-7 and L 4-5. Have 4 nerve root impengements with spondylosis in some areas and stenosis at interval from neck to sacral. Take steroid shots when I can with positive results for a few weeks. Always have Norco 5mg/325 ready if needed. Unfortunately I have found the best way to keep pain down is to lie down. So most of my days are spent on my bed. Any suggestions?

It's better to take the CBD oil orally as it goes directly into the bloodstream and not through the digestive system where it may be acted upon and takes longer.

@cantab, Just wanted to thank you for your post. Helped it defines why CBD is less effective for some and works great for others. It's not just the product quality, strength, and dose you need to consider. As well as the company it's the delivery you choose. I use Stanley brothers Charlotte Webb strain as they are the leader in the CBD hemp industry. I found this site after researching fist pass. So thanks again for post which in part is true that is goes into the bloodstream first. https://purecraftcbd.com/blogs/news/what-is-the-first-pass-effect-how-can-i-outsmart-it-with-my-cbd

Staying in bed or on the couch can cause muscle to atrophy. My right leg has turned to the right and my calves have shrunk over a 2 year period. But having studied and done yoga for just 10 to 15 minutes regularly keeps me moving. We HAVE TO WORK THROUGH THE PAIN!
I’m a Large B cell lymphoma survivor and will not allow my bulging discs, my neuropathy, arthritis or fibromyalgia pain keep me down.
God bless us

I'm sorry to hear about your chronic pain. Here are a few suggestions that may help:

Consult with a Pain Management Specialist: A pain management specialist can help develop a comprehensive treatment plan that includes a combination of medication, injections, physical therapy, and other pain management techniques.

Physical Therapy: A physical therapist can teach you exercises that can help strengthen the muscles supporting your spine and improve your posture, which can reduce pain and improve mobility.

Consider Non-Pharmacological Treatments: Mind-body techniques such as meditation, guided imagery, biofeedback, and cognitive-behavioral therapy can help manage pain and reduce stress.

Ergonomics: Make sure that your work and living spaces are ergonomically designed to minimize the strain on your spine. Invest in a comfortable bed and pillow, use a lumbar support pillow while sitting, and adjust the height of your computer monitor to eye level.

Stay Active: Even if you are in pain, try to stay as active as possible. Walking, swimming, and yoga can help keep your muscles strong and improve your overall health.

Diet and Nutrition: Eat a healthy, balanced diet that is rich in anti-inflammatory foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and omega-3 fatty acids. Avoid processed foods, sugar, and caffeine, which can exacerbate inflammation and pain.

Support Groups: Joining a support group can help you connect with others who are dealing with similar issues and provide emotional support.

Remember, chronic pain is a complex condition that requires a multidisciplinary approach to manage. Be sure to discuss any new treatments or changes to your treatment plan with your healthcare provider.

CBD oil has never relieved my pain.

An NIH study of studies shows CBD can help some kinds of pain (but not others) after trying other pain control methods. Be careful where you get it too. See this for starters: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7204604/

Has anyone found success with CBD who has abdominal pain? I have never tried, but have Crohn’s disease and recent laparoscopy to remove scar tissue. On my way to Mayo in a week to try to get answers for undiagnosed upper right quadrant pain and unresolved thyroid/parathyroid issues. I’ve had no many tests, gastrointestinal and primary care encouraged to go. I’ve had this recurrent pain since 2019 and gallbladder removed but never quite right. I have flare ups with intense pain/acid reflux and weight loss. Been in pain since Nov. and this flare is unrelenting. I had tramadol after surgery for 1week but pain is now all over while I’m trying to recover from surgery still. Tylenol doesn’t cut it. Doctors in Kentucky don’t prescribe pain meds outside surgery. I have not had pain meds previously but the tramadol did lessen my pain so I’m trying to figure out what avenues I can try to function. I was such a vibrant involved person and now I rarely leave home except for Dr appts. Have not found any success in finding a pain clinic that addresses abdominal pain. I don’t know where to find quality medicinal CBD to try. I would appreciate what to try and what companies are reputable. Ive read previous posts that the CBD oil is preferable to many and that made from hemp is not medicinal. Thank you for any direction.

I've tried CBD with some success. But not enough relief for me to miss not taking it anymore.

There is a lot of hype about this currently. I have been a chronic pain patient for a decade now. I have tried both the oil and some ointment which ultimately led me to the conclusion they do not work on me. I have a feeling this result will be quite common for those who have been on opiods and other medications for long periods of time. I have often wondered if the THC is what would be of more benefit but the laws in my State and the contract I have signed with my physician prevent me from investigating it any further.

New forms of CBD has no traces of THC. I’m in California and it is sold on just about every corner. I have autoimmune disease and I believe fibromyalgia, which I’ll find out all the good new from latest blood work, but what can you suggest as a pain rub, or vitamin, I am up for 3 hours, at age 40, and down for at least another hour or so. It’s been weeks and I’ve barely been making it out for an hour at a time.

I live in Canada so I can buy cannabis with both CBD and THC in it. The combination works better than either one alone

Yes, after first taking 100% CBD oils, tablets and balms (with no results)a friend told me that it needs the THC with it to make it work.
This is added to my daily meds:
Two drops of tincture, 2 CBD/to /1 part THC
2 Tylenol
I also massage 1/1 balm on my feet
