Has anyone had TULSA?
Hello, 56, recently diagnosed with prostate cancer..2 lesions 3 plus 4 and 3 plus 3. (from biopsy) I an American but live in Japan.
I`m trying to decide between Tulsa or surgery. Tulsa is available in only two locations in Japan. It`s about 14,000 dollars for treatment. I met with the doctor last week. The MRI picked up the 3 plus 4 but not the 3 plus 3 lesion.
He recommends killing the 3 plus 4 and leaving the 6 as it may not need treatment. He says he can blast the whole area (and kill the 6 also) but it cause some nerve damage.
In theory, Tulsa sounds better than surgery but it seems like some cases of the cancer returning. I really torn now and need to decide in the next day.
It`s really hard to find a lot of Tulsa experiences only a few negative and yet to be determined.
Does anyone have any feedback both positive or negative about Tulsa?

I did Tulsa Pro at Mayo in Jax in December 2025. They ablated the front half of my prostate so it is called hemi gland Tulsa Pro. My tumor location led me to Tulsa Pro. It was on the interior of the prostate close to the urethrae. It was affecting my ability to urinate, so Tulsa Pro not only took care of the tumor, at least for now, it has given me a much stronger and un-interrupted stream afterwards. A week of the catheter was miserable, and a day or two of spraying everywhere, but since then it has been great. I highly recommend if your situation is right for it. My PSA went from 4.5 to .051 in 3 months. Going back for 2nd checkup and PSA test in late June. I was a 3+4 with only 70% of one core out of 13, and less then 5% was the 4. Two genetics tests came back with no issues. I am glad I took the time to meet with several Drs at several facilities and got several opinions on my biopsy slides. I went to Advent Health, Moffit and Mayo. Also my BCBS - Anthem paid 100% since I had met my out of pocket max for the year. Very blessed so far.
