Has anyone had nerve ablation treatment for cervical neck pain?
I have been having pain from arthritis and facet joints 4 and 5 narrowing for a while now. I am scheduled for the nerve ablation procedure and am worried about it, both that it won't work, or that it will cause me more pain then I have had before. I recently saw an acupuncturist which helped the pain for about 2 or 3 days. She is hard to get into see so I have another appt. in about 3 weeks. Also meeting with my doctor to talk more about the procedure. Also does anyone know if they use conscious sedation for this procedure? Thanks.

Good luck!
I’ve had two ablations in my neck area. They weren’t painful, but also didn’t relieve the occipital neuralgia.
me too! My first ablation last about 16 months and I'm about to go for my second. It's not that bad that it isn't worth the results!
Yes way worth it. I will probably make 15 months. Doing great.
Which nerve and what was diagnosis?
I was told I could not have ablation😟
I have it done on both sides of my neck. You'll have the option of taking a valium but it doesn't help with the pain if the procedure so I don't take it. No anesthesia. It hurts for about 24 to 48 hours. For me the relief lasts 6 months on average.
Thanks. I contacted my doctor and they do conscious sedation which I am relieved about. Good to know pain for only 48 hours. I heard from others 2 weeks or so. I guess everyone is different.
Had 9 of them done on my neck. Super easy with very little discomfort. Unfortunately only got a few months of relief. I am now having my neck fused as I just can't deal with the constant pain. Hopefully once I recover I will be able to get back to racing next season
I'm sorry for what you've been through and thank you for sharing your story.
Is nerve ablation done without the need for surgery? If so, how is it done?
Thanks you, and I truly hope you are better.

When my pain goes into my eye my doctor does pain shots in my head. If he gets the right nerve it is very successful.
