Has anyone had Daily Persistent Headache after covid?
My 16 year old son has had Daily Persistent Headache for over two years now along with low iron and pots. He has a headache everyday and reach migraine levels 2-4 times per week. After seeing several different doctors and trying just about every treatment possible we are no further along then we were two years ago. Just trying to find anything or anyone that might help. It has been a nightmare for me and my family.

I had migraines from the time I was 3 until I was 60 when they began to fade away. They are excruciating headaches on one side of the head. They also had a nausea component. Migraine can start at any age and be triggered by a number of foods. Chocolate is a big trigger, something I'll never eat again.
Thanks so much for your reply.
I have never been able to tolerate chocolate , so I keep away from that and I've never really had migraines or significant headaches requiring medications its only since having Covid-19 , that I have had this head pain that interferes with my life, noises around me, that in the past when unnoticed now annoying me +++, too much stimulation, the loss of focus, the loss of words and reading abilities, overwhelme my headache and my test results NAD???
This is not me, the doctor told me I need to learn to be a new me🤨😪
I take an herb for migraine called Feverfew. I take one every morning. After less than 2 weeks my migraines almost entirely disappeared. It also has mild blood thinning properties so check what meds you are on now. For me, feverfew was a last resort. I had been on every migraine med in existence. None worked, some made the migraines last up to 5 days instead of 3. Now, since feverfew I'm fine and hope it will never be off the market.
Another source of migraines is associated with Celiac disease. I had migraine since I was 3, but after diagnosis they were lessened. I hope something here helps or at least gives you a step forward.
Thank you so much for the information. He just had an appointment with his headache specialist and was put on two new medications which I am not happy about. But we are going give it a few weeks if there is no change we are going to ween him off the meds and try some of these alternative treatments such as you and others have suggested.

The low iron may be causing the headaches. From lab corp:
"Without adequate iron stores, the body cannot build the hemoglobin molecules needed for red blood cells to function.
Headaches are another frequent complaint with anemia. When your brain doesn't get enough oxygen from the blood, it can trigger headaches. The headaches may be dull and constant or come and go"

You may want to make an appointment with a rheumatologist. Hope you find help soon.
Sounds like my issue is likely different, but I discovered early on in 2020 that Long COVID had gifted me with Mast Cell Activation histamine intolerance and I was getting headaches after eating high histamine food or drinks. I started taking quercitin/bromelain twice a day and taking DAO before a meal I was concerned with. I started cutting out foods/drinks I was concerned with. The headaches have gotten less serious over the last six months. Hope you can figure out what works for your son.
He has been on an iron supplement for almost a year now. He is actually going to have his iron levels checked again tomorrow. We will see how that turns out.
Thank you for the information.
