Has anyone had any recovery from months of long Covid brain fog?

Posted by ericy210 @ericy210, Nov 30, 2022

Brain fog and fatigue. 7 months for me. New studies don’t give me much confidence in recovering or improving. If anything, I’m in a bad relapse and my brain and cognitive skills are garbage. New tests at UIC scheduled in a couple week. Mini cognitive, acth hormone, psych eval, and a test for small fiber neuropathy. It all feels like a pointless waste of time. Has anyone made any recovery in cognitive ability?

I've decided I'm done with docs. No more diagnostics. There hasn't been anything diagnosed except POTS. I'll keep my eyes and ears open for anything new or helpful. I'm resigned to listen to my body, be kind to me, and live the best day possible every day.

I was hospitalized November 2021 for one week. All of my symptoms-except the brain fog/lightheaded have gone away. I have been to physical therapy, seen a neurologist, ENT, my family doctor. I have tried suggestions made by others in this group and have had no relief. So frustrating! No none can tell me what is going on. So I just keep hoping this will eventually go away. I hope we all find relief soon!!!

I was recently prescribed low dose Naltroxine and this has seemed to help the brain fog and sleep

I definitely understand how you feel. I got covid Aug 2021 my brain fog was awful. After doing my own research on any relief I found a journal of repurposing meds for long covid. Cymbalta was one I asked my dr if I can try it. I did and within a day or two my body felt great no more pain or burning. Then I went on to try low dose naltrexone 1mg. I’ve been on it for a month now and my brain fog has just about completely gone away like90% after only taking it for a week. I will be going up to 2mg this week. I hope this is helpful. These meds have given me my life back after a year of long covid symptoms. I am also using inspiratory and expiratory devices to strengthen my lungs as my breathing was compromised that were recommended at my physical therapy office. I have a post covid therapist that has been very helpful and an online zoom long covid support group that’s helpful too, makes you feel less alone. I’m happy to help if you have any questions. -Laura

Female, 70 this month, never did any of the vaccines(another story-can't), covid onset Oct.14,22. Did not test negative until about 1st week of Nov. I think I had a very mild case of covid but after about a week of feeling good I suddenly began to experience post covid symptoms. Above all of them the brain fog was the worst. I spent a week in non funtional behavior and finally dragged myself into the kitchen and took my favorite herbal supplement. Ashwagandha. There were others I had taken regularly before covid but this was the only one I could manage to swallow post covid. I am well aware, the same tx doesn't work for everyone but ashwagandha saved me. It began making a difference immediately with ALL of my post covid problems, not just the brain fog. My heart goes out to all the people who deal with it STILL. Having just a little taste of it scared me spitless. I am so sorry for your pain.

I have dealt with brain fog for almost 3 years after being infected with covid. 72 year old male. My LC doctor in Montana prescribed Aricept and my memory and concentration has improved a lot. Still have trouble with visual memory and reading, but much better than it was!!

I found LDN 4 mg along with HQC, Zyrtec x2 daily, 2 pepcid x2 daily and 2 benadryl at night, it is finally working for the brain fog and energy.... Possible Mast cell activation, idk. Prayers to you! I see Dr Yoder at telehealthnp@gmail.com for the LDN and HQC.
