Has anyone found a treatment that helps with peripheral neuropathy?

Posted by bigjohnscho @bigjohnscho, Jul 1, 2025

I suspect that everyone on this forum has been searching for a medication that helps their neuropathy and even though you no that all the internet claims are false we continue to waste hundreds of pounds. Desperation is a powerful force. Has any one been fortunate enough to find a genuine treatment. I just can’t believe that there are so many awful people who prey on our vulnerability and knowingly orchestrate such elaborate scams.

@karenjaninaz Have you tried alpha lipoic acid 600 mg once a day - I have sensory idiopathic neuropathy and helped me 90%. Get it at health food stores. I could not take gabapentin or Lyrica - the fatigue was too great. Good luck.

@gnocchi Sound too good to be true. What were you pain level before and after taking this supplement?

My biggest problem since being "diagnosed" with IPN has been my burning and/or itching feet when I lay down at night to sleep. I have 3 different creams that I rub into both feet and that helps a lot! What I have discovered through a vascular surgeon has been a god send! He told me to get a wedge pillow; place it at the end of the bed; and, place my feet at the end of it! I use a 10" wedge pillow (Amazon) but you can get them at different heights. My feet are now above my heart and my blood flow doesn't "pool" in my feet. May not be helpful to many but if it helps just one of you it's a win!!

A zero or anti gravity adjustable bed frame makes a HUGE difference for me. It raises your feet and your head so, in our case, my wife and I don't need pillows between our knees and under our feet. We had read that the astronauts slept in zero gravity and the adjustable frame does it for you.

I have had neuropathy since at least 2019. I never had any pain, just tingling and cramps. I take nortriptyline 25mg 1X day. Most of the symptoms have dissipated to a manageable degree. I still have cramping in toes, usually when I'm pointing my toes like when putting on socks.
