Has anyone found a treatment that helps with peripheral neuropathy?
I suspect that everyone on this forum has been searching for a medication that helps their neuropathy and even though you no that all the internet claims are false we continue to waste hundreds of pounds. Desperation is a powerful force. Has any one been fortunate enough to find a genuine treatment. I just can’t believe that there are so many awful people who prey on our vulnerability and knowingly orchestrate such elaborate scams.

I started out with one Duloxetine at night and dropped 900 Mg at that time. About a week later I dropped my 900 Ng of Gabapentin at 4:00 in the afternoon. Then I was prescribed 1 more Duloxetine at night and about a week or two later I dropped the last 900 Mg of Gabapentin.
Never seemed to be any problems at least for me.
@sash
I did find an NIH article, 2004:
"Conclusion: This prospective, double-blind trial of 500 patients undergoing 828 treatments, one time with Sarapin and a subsequent time without, with each patient acting as their own control, showed no significant differences in the pain relief or duration of significant relief with the addition of Sarapin." https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16868612/
And from Azon Medical: "It works by stopping pain signals in the nerves of the spine where they exit the spinal column. It does not affect any other nerve or motor functions, nor is it affected by heat or cold."
I think you are correct - need more studies.
@reddakota1 Thanks. That is helpful as I'm trying to decide whether I will try to discontinue gabapentin and start duloxetine.
@formerrunner13 wow Mr Buzzkill. New treatments are being tried all the time. I realize this has been the typical thinking for some time. I can't agree with you when I've already seen improvement from CET treatments. I dont think a blanket statement like that is totally true. That said, yes their are scams out there. Do your research before you spend money on wishful treatment. One litmus test is the treatment covered by ins. CET was covered by Medicare. Its not as one said, a silver bullet, but it has helped me a lot.

1 ReactionA topical formulation of Pirenzepine 4% called WST-057 is currently undergoing clinical trials for diabetic PN. It has completed phase 2b trials. Will be several more years to complete phase 3.
From what I have read this cream could greatly help, even regrow peripheral nerves.
WinSan Tor has a Compassionate Use Program you can sign up for. Doesn't say insurance will cover the cost.
@nscaccia Did your doctor tell you to use hydrogen peroxide for soaking and drinking? Thank you.
Tried Gabapentin without any positive effects. Stopped it and feel better, lost weight. My doctor prescribed Capsaicin cream and I use a over the counter cream, Momma Bear (Magnesium). Both have helped. I first reported this 16 years ago to my doctors, but no support from them was given until I strongly questioned my care. Not giving in or up. I will push as hard as I can for better treatment.
Yes, stay off of the Facebook neuropathy pages. Ive found a few normal people and we talk about our experiences. But honestly I believe the admins are the culprits selling their “snake oils”. I went almost all the way to purchase with a couple just to see. Both promised to “cure” my neuropathy in 2 weeks with herbal drinks that looked like soda bottles. But as soon as I started questioning them they were like “don’t you believe”. “Send money and we will begin creating your cure.”Then after I don’t respond they say you are not believer goodbye.
So frustrating. I see numerous people on there falling for it even though many members try to warn them. Just stay off those pages.
Rant over
Kevin
