Has anyone been diagnosed with SCAD?
My sister was recently diagnosed with SCAD. I would like to help support her somehow, but not sure what it involves as a diagnosis or what the treatment would be. Also wondering if it is a disease with hereditary concerns. I had not heard of Aortic Dissection until recently

I'm a retired nurse and I had never heard of this diagnosis either, but then I was a psychiatric nurese, so there are a lot of things I didn't know much about. What I do know is that there are many resources that you can use to learn more about the condition from AI facts to YouTube videos; also I sincerely hope your sister has a cardiologist that spent time with her to explain the condition, treatment and symptoms of distress she should be watching for. It is not hereditary from what I read, but some hereditary conditions can contribute to the risk factors for SCAD. The best "treatment" for any condition is to be informed; she should have her list of questions/concerns with her when she goes for her appointments and she should have all her questions answered before she leaves. This is a serious condition so she needs to be informed. You sound like a good sister who can support her to get the best care possible. Best wishes.

2 ReactionsGoogle it. I googled it and I found a lot of information. I was not aware of this disease. Your sister was diagnosed either. Mail Clinic has a good information as well as other teaching hospitals
The best thing you could do is to learn research take notes and talk to your sister when she wants to talk let her bring up conversation conversations about what is going on with her
I wish you and your sister and your families the very best during this difficult
