Has anyone been diagnosed with lung cancer metastasized to the liver?

I have a family member who was diagnosed two years ago with metastatic lung cancer in the liver. Despite treatments over the years, the tumors in the liver are growing out of control. He was recently put on hospice. I’m desperately hoping someone is aware of a miracle trial treatment that may save his life! His doctors have declared to be out of treatment options. Please share any hope you can!

hi @loveslemons72 - I'm sorry to hear you have a loved one dealing with advanced lung cancer. one of the issues with cancer in the liver is that the body may not be able to tolerate drug therapies any longer. I would encourage you to ask all of your questions to your family member's oncologist. being on hospice means the doctor(s) think they are out of life saving treatment (surgical, radiation and drug) options and it might help you to better understand why they think that. it's ok to get a second opinion, too, if that would be helpful.

@loveslemons72, I'm sorry that you and your family are facing this difficult time. Lung cancer impacts far too many of us, and I'm sure it is not easy to watch and it's even harder to accept. Each patient is different, and @mamajite offered good advice in talking with the doctors that are most familiar with his condition. The hospice nurses are often good with these types of discussions too.
Is your family member and those closest to him open to additional treatments, or are they confident in the decision to place him in hospice?

This is a very difficult place to be in. For me, cancer can sometimes feel like an evil spirit. One minute I feel excited about the testing, other times I feel angry about the results. It was difficult and completely shocking when I read the results after my lower rt lobectomy.
Not sure if this can help you, but....
I have lung cancer that has metastasized to both lungs liver and spleen. I'm 71 yrs old and have found a clinical trial here in Ontario through Princess Margaret Hospital. I'm hoping for a drug called Sevabertanin (Seva). It has shown great results for folks with HER2 mutation in studies, but not available in Ontario.
Altho I was accepted, I have to pass serveral tests before starting the treatment. These tests are taking up to a month to finish. It's also a random study which may require me to start with the standard treatment and if that is not working, I can cross over to Seva. I'm at Stage IV now.
Just sharing the option I have been able to access. Not sure if it is something your family person would even consider now that they are in hospice.
We had to educate our Oncologist about this drug, he had no knowledge of it.
I sure hope you find your "miracale" treatment and if you don't, I send much love for a peaceful passing if that's what they choose.
